The least competitive course is B.Tech. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering with a cutoff rank of 6926. So, candidates seeking admission to any of the BTech course must secure a rank upto 171 to be eligible for IIT Madras
IIT Madras admissio to the BTech course is based on JEE Advanced scores, followed by JoSAA counselling process.
Students who wish to get admission to the IIT Madras after Class 12th must apply for the entrance exams and appear for the entrance test. The mode of IIT Chennai course admissions is online. IIT Madras admission to various programmes is done through national-level entrance exams, including JEE Main/ JEE Advanced, IIT JAM and GATE, etc.
No, one does not have to apply separately at IIT Madras website after JoSAA counselling. EE branch recorded the best placement during IIT Madras MS placements 2025. The median and average package received in EE branch was 24 LPA and 26.5 LPA. It was followed by CS branch wherein the average and median package received was 22.2 LPA and 21.9 LPA.

In terms of average package, AE branch students received the best average package of 31.4 LPA during PhD placements 2025. With respect to median package, CH and MA branch students received the highest median package of 25 LPA in 2025.
