IIT Mandi admission process includes the application process, selection round, cutoff, merit list and counselling. The application and selection process varies for different programmes at the institute. Selection to the majority of the programmes is entrance-based, but few courses, such as MA admission are done based on merit, written tests, and personal interviews. - IIT Mandi Application Process
Candidates seeking admission at IIT Mandi are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. For MTech admission, candidates have to register for GATE first. The qualifying candidates have to further apply for the COAP counselling process.
- Selection Rounds
UG Admission: IIT Mandi admits students to BTech courses based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced candidate's scores. Candidates are allotted seats in JoSAA Counselling for BTech, BTech-MTech (Dual Degree) and BS courses.
PG Admission: Admission to MTech is through GATE followed by COAP Counselling. Further, the institute also conducts its in-house exam for admission to MA courses. Candidates can check with the admission office for the selection rounds of the rest of the courses.

Yes, the institute offers a four-year integrated BTech-MTech course. The dual degree course is offered in only one specialisation, i.e., Bioengineering. IIT Mandi offers two-year MTech courses in nearly 10 specialisations, including Computer Science and Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, Structural Engineering, and more. The course is divided into four semesters. Admission to MTech at IIT Mandi is through GATE, followed by COAP counselling.
In case, students who have graduated from IITs with a BTech degree and have a CGPA of 8.0 (on a scale of 10) do not need to appear for the GATE entrance examination, for a few specialisations. They can apply directly on the official website of the institute.

IISc Bangalore conducted the GATE 2024 exam on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024. The GATE 2024 application form was released on 24th August 2024 on the official website at gate.iisc.ac.in. IIT Mandi BTech registrations start with the release of JEE Main application forms. The registrations for JEE session one goes on from Oct till Nov, a year prior to the admission session. While the registrations for session two are carried out in February. Candidates who pass JEE Mains need to apply

For BTech in IIT Mandi, the students need to be Class 12 or equivalent pass with at least 75% aggregate. Students should have studied PCM subjects in the qualifying examination. It is also important that the candidates hold pass certificates at the time of admission for verification purposes.

IIT Mandi BSc course admission is entirely entrance-based for the year 2024. Candidates seeking admission to the BSc programme are required to appear for the JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. Therefore, candidates cannot get the direct admission to IIT Mandi BSc course.
