IIT Mandi admission process includes the application process, selection round, cutoff, merit list and counselling. The application and selection process varies for different programmes at the institute. Selection to the majority of the programmes is entrance-based, but few courses, such as MA admission are done based on merit, written tests, and personal interviews. Candidates seeking admission at IIT Mandi are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. For MTech admission, candidates have to register for GATE first. The qualifying candidates have to further apply for the COAP counselling process.

UG Admission: IIT Mandi admits students to BTech courses based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced candidate's scores. Candidates are allotted seats in JoSAA Counselling for BTech, BTech-MTech (Dual Degree) and BS courses.
