The candidates should have registered with the State Registration Council of Nursing and Midwifery. Candidates shall be medically fit. Those who have studied midwifery are also eligible. Male candidates should have passed any other course recommended by Indian Nursing Council in place of midwifery. Candidates who have obtained Post Basic BSc. Nursing (PBBSc. Nursing) qualification from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) are NOT eligible for admission to MSc (Nursing) course at JIPMER.

Admission is through counselling based on the percentile obtained in JIPMER Common Entrance Examination (JIPMER CEE) conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research.
