NIT Delhi Eligibility & Selection Criteria

NIT Delhi Application Process 2026
NIT Delhi application process is conducted online. Students must first apply through the relevant entrance portal. For BTech, complete the JEE Main application process. For MTech, complete GATE application process. The steps mentioned below show how to register for the accepted entrance exams as well apply for admissions:
- Open the official website of relevant entrance exam (JEE Main, NIMCET, GATE, etc.).
- Register on the portal by filling out the registration form.
- Fill in any required details.
- Upload the required documents.
- Pay the application fee.
- Submit the application form.
For other courses, students must apply through the official website of NIT Delhi.
Selection Rounds
Only those candidates will get a chance to participate in the selection rounds who meet the NIT Delhi cutoff for the said course. The admission process to the flagship BTech course is merit-based in terms of JEE Main score, followed by counselling conducted by JoSAA. To gain admission to MTech one needs to qualify for GATE followed by counselling conducted by CCMT. The Admission procedure differs course-wise. For PhD, students must appear for entrance exam, followed by personal interview.
Release of Cutoff list, Counselling
The minimum mark released course-wise can be taken for admission. The shortlisted candidates have to attend the counselling process corresponding to the course, that is, JoSAA for BTech and CCMT for MTech. The selected candidates become eligible for admission.
Seat Confirmation
After the rounds of selection are over, the shortlisted candidates can confirm their seats by paying the admission fee.
