M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2020
5.0
Review of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat.
Placements: From M.Tech (chemical) in the year 2020, about 80% of students were placed. The highest salary package offered is 15 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 10 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 8 LPA. Top companies like Tata Chemicals in Mithapur, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, Infosys, L&T, etc., visit here. Top roles offered are a officer and manager.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi for 24 hours, and classrooms are clean and neat. The library has a book bank, and all technical books are available online as well as hard copies for M.Tech (chemical). There is a separate room for every student inside the campus. The canteen has good food at a very low rate. Medical facilities and sports and games are available and good.
Faculty: Teachers here are very well helpful and qualified. Their teaching quality is excellent. The course curriculum is relevant, and students are made industry-ready. Semester exams are very easy in this college. The passing percentage is 35%. Overall, it is a good and excellent teaching platform.
Other: Events and fests organised here are enough.

The best college in Gujarat. It provides good placement opportunities.
Placements: The placements of the chemical department are very good as there is less number of students here as compared to other departments. Almost everyone gets placed, and the average salary offered is around 6 LPA. The highest salary package offered was 20 LPA, and the lowest was 4 LPA. A training and placement cell works efficiently. Internships start from 2nd year onwards, but most people get an internship after their 3rd year.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in the hostels and also provide LAN for laptops. The infrastructure is good as most departments are newly built and so are in good condition. The labs are also well-equipped, especially computer labs. There is a big sports ground that houses almost all the games. There are many hostels for different years, and all of them are well maintained. There is a central library, and it's fully air-conditioned.
Faculty: The curriculum is mentioned on the college's website and can be accessed anytime. Our professors are very qualified, and there are teaching assistants to assist them. The student to faculty ratio is around 10:1, and our teachers use modern teaching methods and leave less for self-study. We do have industrial visits. The teachers use PPTs mostly to teach, and the rest is covered in the labs.

Svnit is not 2nd ranked college min it. But its a old NIT. So its 3/5 stars.
Placements: None for urban planning. If you want to become an assistant professor then any M.Tech. Branch will do. Atleast 35-40k is coolly given by any private institute. NIT generally gets higher package for asst professor. Placements for B.Tech. Students is nice. PhDs also don't get much job offers.
Infrastructure: New library is awesome. Spa re the new buildings. But old buildings are as old as the dinosaurs. The GATE is ***. Professors are fine. Some professor are really awesome. Sports facility are so. SAC ground is the most happening place after canteen cements. Women's football is to be organised for the first time in 2018.
Faculty: Faculty is fine. Some civil engineering teachers are really awesome. But some are real ***. Transportation engineering teachers are research oriented. Urban planning faculty members are also good at consultant. So are environment engineers. Teaching methods are rudimentary. Old fashioned teaching equipment.
Other: Scholarship will require too much of unnecessary paperwork. All work in svnit has lots of paperwork. They often tend to misplace papers so always keep a photocopy.

Good faculty, placements, infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: The placements are almost 80%. For M.Tech, most of the placements are from the colleges like Uka Tarsadia University, Parul University and other local Gujarat colleges offering 30-40k per month salary. Some coaching centres like Aakash Institute and Resonance also approach for physics and mathematics teachers' recruitment. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Oracle, L&T, Rolls-Royce (2 students got selected), etc., give good package. For M.Tech, the scope is good for teaching. Still, you can get good support from professors for PhD recommendation.
Infrastructure: If you get registered for once, free Wi-Fi is available everywhere, yet passwords for different departments are different. All the departments have well-furnished buildings. The labs are available with all adequate instruments. The medical facility is available for free of cost on campus behind mechanical department. The classrooms have projector facility. Cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton, etc., playgrounds are available on the campus. A well-furnished gym with a trainer is available. There is a big library, common rooms, and the study rooms in hostels are well-maintained. The cleaning service in hostels is good. All the rooms are well furnished and ventilated. Gardens and in-campus greenery are well maintained. The canteen food is average, it depends on the contractor. Vivekanand hostels' mess food is quite good.
Faculty: In M.Tech Thermal, S A Channiwala sir is a legend of boiler analysis. He published many research papers and patents. He is very busy and knowledgeable person. If you are doing a project under him, you have to be hardworking. A D Parekh sir is cool, and he generally teaches refrigeration and also conducts thesis on the same area. HB Naik sir teaches heat transfer and cryogenics, and you can do research work related to cryogenics under him. HB Mehta sir teaches FDM method and Ansys-fluent. Jyotirmay Banerjee is the most strict and disciplined professor and has good knowledge in the field of FEM and fluid mechanics. You will love his teaching. PV Bhale sir is good in teaching automobile engineering and the design of IC engines. He conducts projects related to renewable energy. The teaching method involves assignments, presentations, lab practicals and industrial visits. The course curriculum is sufficient for specialisation and getting a job in the same industry.
Other: There are various events throughout the year. Sparsh is one of the most famous events. Hindi Pakhhwada, a CHRD group, manages many extracurricular activities. There are various groups for activities like photography, design, robotics, entrepreneurship, etc. For M.Tech, GATE scholarship is applicable. The campus is 20 minutes from Surat railway station. Various food junctions are around campus, and auto rickshaws are available frequently.

Bachelor's degree from here is better than the master's degree (in civil engineering).
Placements: No company comes to recruit urban planning M.Tech students. Some companies take transportation engineering and water resources engineering students. Structural engineering and geotechnical engineering also don't have much placement. Urban planning has the worst placement. You can only sit for assistant professor post.
Infrastructure: It is a very old college. But the civil department has very less and outdated equipment. The civil department is a 40 years old broken building. The medical facility is fine. There is no maintained sports plaza. Only the badminton court is being maintained. Wi-Fi of SVNIT hostels is slower than 2g phones.
Faculty: There is a shortage of teachers. Thus, proper attention is not given to the students. PhD and M.Tech students are often engaged with classes and especially for all the practical labs of civil engineering. Teachers are qualified but not very helpful. They are working on industry exposure but not officially yet.
Other: Events and fests are good. The 1st-year fest is called Kashish. Spring fest is called Sparsh, and it happens in February and March. MMNCT is night cricket tournament which is as good as Sparsh. There are various societies which have their own fests.

Absolutely satisfied with faculty members, infrastructure, canteen and placements.
Placements: The placements in transportation engineering and planning under the department of civil engineering are really good. The faculty have lots of contacts out there in their field, and it helps in getting the off-campus placements also. In the year 2017, the placements were around 150%. Some of the students got two jobs.
Infrastructure: We have a free Wi-Fi facility with good connectivity and speed all throughout the campus. We have an excellent infrastructure, newly built high tech digital library, ample amount of hostels, all possible kinds of labs, projector-equipped classrooms, very tasty canteen food at really reasonable rates and average hostel food.
Faculty: The faculty in TEP section are extremely talented and helpful. The students have lots of consultancy projects with them which helps the students to work on real-life problems. The course curriculum is well defined and covers all the major subjects needed in the field. Majority of the faculty members of the department are doctorates and have a vast experience in the academics which could be a boon for the students.

My Institution: Ultimate amongst all.
Placements: Our seniors were selected in various companies as well as institutions as trainee engineer and professors during the campus interview. Getting a job is not a difficult task once you enter SVNIT because your mentors make you technically sound so that you can face the upcoming challenges in the field. We also got selected in various institutions as an assistant professor and some went for higher studies in IITs and abroad. The average package was around 8 lacs per annum. One can easily get an internship in Navratna companies in Hajira, an industrial area near Surat.
Infrastructure: Our college is equipped with a state-of-the-art library consisting of millions of books and ebooks for various disciplines. A three-storey building is fully dedicated to books and for reading purposes, also one can get the book from librarian even if it is not found in the library. The sport facility is too good consisting of number of sport accessories and indoor and outdoor stadiums for different games.
Faculty: Choosing the right university is a critical decision. Within the faculty, every single course is led by subject experts who hold significant experience and are qualified to the highest levels in their field. The faculty members perform industry research, chair committees, organise events and through excellent employer partnerships, help you enjoy practical participation in the most coveted workplaces. Our faculty members work together for a better understanding of the needs of the students.

College with good Infrastructure, Placement, Facilities, Food, Ranking but Dry of water.
Placements: Placements are good here in electronics department. Companies like Intel, Qualcomm, Cadence, Marvels SC, Infineon, John Deere, and general electronics are visiting every year. From my senior batch almost 80% got either internship (Job after this) or placed. From my batch 19 out of 36 got internship offer from Intel & still many more companies are coming. Role offered is depend on the company like circuit designer, tool developer etc.
Infrastructure: Facility members are good in the college like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, good library, medical facilities, sports, gym, post office, bank, ATM, stationary and games etc. There is good quality of classes & labs are available with AC. A good quality of food with lower cost is available in the canteen, best food of the campus. I am not facing any problem related to infrastructure. The Infrastructure is very good as compared to others.
Faculty: As we know, this is NIT, so may be faculty will not take more classes. You have to do little bit self studies and TA's will also be there to teach. But this means not that faculty members are not good, they are always ready to help. The teaching Method is common like other colleges, they will use blackboard and PPT's to teach you. Sometimes they will also show some videos related to subject that will be helpful. We get industry exposure also. Course curricular will also be helpful.

I think, it is better to attend the exam again, as you are not having eligibility to join in particular university. Try to score good result.

You have to go for Gate examination as it is basic criteria for doing M.Tech in engineering college. This criteria is applicable for SVNIT also. So, all the best for future.
