Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat offers a regular Master of Technology (MTech) course of a two-year duration. It is a full-time course with an industry-oriented curriculum spread over eight semesters. Admission to SVNIT Surat BTech is entrance exam-based.

Candidates are required to apply separately for each programme and entrance exams like JEE Main BTech, GATE MTech, IIT JAM MSc in order to secure admission at the NIT Surat. Admission to SVNIT Surat M.Tech is done through valid GATE score, and CCMT counselling. Students are to apply online and take part in the centralized process. Seat allotment is made on basis of rank, preferences, and availability of seats. Enrollment is strictly Merit-based and entrance-motivated.
The duration of JEE Main exam is 3 hours or 180 minutes. Candidates who fall under PwD category are given 4 hours to complete the exam as they are provided 20 minute extra for every one hour. Students who opts to appear in Paper 2A (BArch) and Paper 2B (BPlan) both will be provided 3.5 hours.
JEE Mains exam is held in morning and evening session. The timing of morning session is 9 am to 12 noon and for evening session the timing is 3 pm to 6 pm. Each day exam is held in two session.
