It is truly premier by name and quality of education, and I am extremely satisfied with the college.
Placements: Students in Bachelor's of microbiology usually aren't eligible for placements. But in the case of other courses, the placements were the best (as I heard from my collegemates). Studying in this college won't disappoint you in the future, and it really does make a very good impact on your profile.
Infrastructure: The college has extremely well-equipped labs. The canteen food is good, and one can rely on that. The library is the highlight of the institution. The college has a central Wi-Fi connection for students. Sports and games are taken extremely seriously. All the classrooms have projectors for slide display.
Faculty: The faculty members are very helpful. Regular and continuous assessments are held and marked accordingly. Semester exams are pretty difficult compared to other institutions. The course structure and training methods are very helpful for the future. The curriculum is well-structured.
Other: Loads of co-curricular and extracurricular activities are conducted here. Fests are the highlight, and we conduct one of the biggest fests in the city.

Satisfied, really good infrastructure and campus life.
Placements: Almost 60% students from the department of computer science, statistics BMS, B.com are placed. The highest package offered is 13 lpa while the lowest is 5 lpa. However in my course, B.Sc. microbiology we do not get placed as higher studies are required in this field. Although almost 100% of the students do various internships and try for off campus placement in companies like biocon, sun pharma etc. or continue with higher studies. The top roles offered in this course is of lab technician, research assistant, teacher etc.
Infrastructure: The campus is huge, it is all Wi-Fi. Certain classrooms (the self financed ones) have air conditioner while the others do not. The lab is great and it is all air conditioned. The equipment are all of good quality. The library is huge and one will find probably all sort of books over there. The canteen sells food at a nominal price. The quality is also nice. There are various types of indoor as well as outdoor games that can be played as the ground is huge.
Faculty: The professors are well qualified and knowledgeable. They are very humble and helpful at all times. I'm also satisfied with the course curriculum, however more practical exposure would have been really great. The difficulty of the semester exams are moderate, the pass percentage is 45.
Other: There are so many fests and events happening in the college throughout the year which makes college life very exciting. There are concession for financially weak students.

It has the best infrastructure and course curriculum for B.Sc in microbiology in India.
Placements: There are no placements after B.Sc, but after the M.Sc programme, few bio companies offer placements. Most of our seniors got placed in reputed companies. Internship opportunities are huge and can be obtained from any institute or industry based on our professors' recommendations.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our department is one of the strongest for the B.Sc programme in India, with the best facilities, constant guide and support from our faculty members. Hostels are clean, well-disciplined and have a good environment for studying.
Faculty: Teachers are an integral part of this course. There are no better faculty members like in the B.Sc programme. They are available for easy communication, and they are quite supportive. The course curriculum helps to get good internship opportunities, and it has a great outlook on the demanding subject.

I am satisfied because of a good campus, faculty members, and infrastructure.
Placements: After B.Sc., rarely some people go to look for their job, otherwise maximum goes for higher education like M.Sc. So to think about placement after doing B.Sc is not a good idea according to me. But the college gives good placement after M.Sc provides ample opportunities to those who wish to get placed in a good company. Again there is competition since the number of students is high. The process is quite streamlined.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is decent. The places are hygienic and highly disciplined. The labs have sufficient systems and awe also have a good library facility. An audio-visual classroom is also available. Medium quality food is served in the canteen. As I didn't stay in the hostel, so I don't know about the hostel.
Faculty: Professors are much passionate and caring. Classes are so worthwhile. They have an amazing way of breaking things down so that they are understandable and always keep it light and fun. Always you will be under pressure regarding exams if you enrolled your name in this college.
Other: I chose microbiology as my favorite subject because from childhood I see those tiny little creatures of the earth who are invisible with the naked eye and always give trouble to mankind. But not always they are harmful, sometimes without them, our life will be in danger. So I found this subject quite interesting. That's why I took this subject. College life is full of fun here.

Review of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.
Placements: The placements are not great for the students of B.Sc as their more focus is on Masters entrance tests. The placements are high for B.Com department which reaches the highest package of 16 LPA and a minimum package of 4 LPA. The students of both senior batch and our batch cleared Masters entrance tests on a national level.
Infrastructure: The college has amazing infrastructure and facilities. The college has one of the best labs in India for microbiology. The labs have good equipment. There is a library, a wide range of sports, and clubs. Many activities are conducted in the college. Classrooms have projectors and are air-conditioned as well.
Faculty: The course curriculum is very well designed, and the autonomous college has all the freedom to design their own curriculum, free from Calcutta University. All the faculty members were from reputed backgrounds and very well knowledgeable in their domain.
Other: Xavotsav is the biggest college fest in the city of Kolkata. Events and seminars are conducted by every department.

Review of Xaviers, Kolkata.
Placements: Students from a biology background cannot expect a job just after Bachelors. Although Xavier is one of the best colleges in India, it doesn't offer any placements to microbiology students. Very few had gone for off-campus placements in a few well-known biotech companies. Roles offered are basic and entry level only. I have done an internship in the second year of my college. It is optional and completely up to the students. My focus was on blue-green algae. It was an unpaid internship. There is a placement cell in Xaviers but it not useful for us.
Infrastructure: Xavier, Kolkata has good infrastructure. Wi-Fi facility is provided now. The library is amazing and offers books on various subjects. There is no medical centre in the college. The sports ground is huge, and we participate in a lot of games. Labs are good, and classrooms are average. Few classrooms have projectors and speakers installed. I was a day scholar, so I have no idea about the mess food, but the food provided in the canteen was affordable and good.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are friendly and helpful to the students. They are knowledgeable and teach us well. In my opinion, the teaching quality is good as I got selected in JNU for Masters with the knowledge I gained from the faculty. The student-faculty ratio around 25:1. We do get industrial exposure, but it was confined to Kolkata only and visiting a small plant. It was a one-day activity and was a good experience. The course curriculum is very helpful in getting an admission in the best colleges for Masters.

Well satisfied with the infrastructure, facilities and curriculum but the fees is quite high.
Placements: The placements for our batch are ongoing, but our senior batch received some good offers from companies like Scientific Press, Phi Learning, and some even got offers from Uber India and UBSPD. The average salary was about 6 LPA with the highest being 8 LPA and the lowest being 4 LPA. The majority of the roles pertained to publication, editing, marketing and communication. There is no separate provision for arranging an internship. However, many of the students arranged them on their own, thanks to the recommendation and support of the faculty members. The placement cell is quite effective and active in arranging seminars and workshops and brings various companies for placement. Although many of the students of our department are interested in higher studies, those who want a job can arrange themselves a decent one if eligible.
Infrastructure: There is free Wi-Fi, digital classrooms with projectors and microphones of good quality. There is a central library with centralised air conditioning system with a huge collection of books and online database search, renewal and fine payment facilities. There is an all-time nurse and five doctors ready on call to cater to any need. A sports department and a sports coordinator look into the sports events and tournaments. The labs have the state of the art equipment and huge funding to pursue research. The food in the canteen is extremely cheap and of high quality. The hostels are a little stringent with their rules, but the amenities provided there are up to the mark. I personally am highly satisfied with the infrastructure of my college.
Faculty: The faculty members of my department are extremely knowledgeable, have a PhD and postdoc experience and are always willing to help us through all our problems, whether that be related to academics or our personal problems. Their style of teaching is excellent, and they use modern technology to invoke our curiosity about the different subjects. The student to faculty ratio is approximately 4:1. There are various seminars, workshops and industry twinning programmes arranged by our department in which we all willingly participate. We have collaboration with foreign universities, and we can undergo exchange programmes with them for one semester. The course curriculum is apt and at par with all top-tier universities for which we have been granted the A+ grade by NAAC and also have been accredited as the star college by DBT.
Other: There are many events and seminars arranged by various departments all the time, both curricular and extracurricular. The Xavotsav is a huge and one of the biggest fests in town which attracts each and every student of the state. The campus is vibrant, and the crowd is open-minded and welcoming. The campus is well maintained, surrounded by greenery, located at a prime location of the city. Many scholarships are also given out by the college so that the underprivileged but meritorious students can also gain access to our college.

I would recommend joining this college.
Placements: Almost 60% of students got placed in our college. The average salary package offered is 7 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA. Almost 80% of students got internships. Students from abroad come to our college. They have a good experience. They learned many things. Our college has good atmosphere.
Infrastructure: Our college provides us with all facilities. The food served in the canteen is good. Many sports events are held in our college.
Faculty: Our teachers are good, cooperative, and supportive. The course curriculum makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate. If we study regularly, then we can easily score good marks.
Other: Our college is worth the money paid. They conduct many activities. We can learn many things.

Can I get admission in microbiology if I don't take mathematics in class 12th?
