Review of Sister Nivedita University, Newtown, Kolkata .

Placements: B.Sc. Hons. microbiology at Sister Nivedita University is a very good course that needs both theoretical and practical aspects. There are no specific placements that we can get after a B.Sc., but we can get placed after our M.Sc. The faculty members of this department are really helpful, but the laboratories are not maintained well enough.

Infrastructure: We have non-AC classrooms with fans. There is a common library for the whole college. They don't have a specific hostel, but they are interested in a private hostel provided by Sandree Home. The rooms are small, but the food has been good lately, and we can find better options.

Faculty: All the teachers in the department are qualified and helpful enough. They are friendly and ready to help you at any point in time. The lab assistants, though, are not that helpful, but you can adjust. The exams are moderate to difficult, depending on each subject.

Other: I came to know about this course and college through Google, but I can assure you that you can get much better options as compared, so go for other colleges too. I did my admissions late during my time, so I had no other options.

I will not recommend to anyone as college is not that good.

Placements: I'm pursuing microbiology and there are no placements in this field, very few companies visit our campus and those are for other departments with a very low percentage of selection. Internships are provided as well but that doesn't matter because there is no campus selection.

Infrastructure: Facilities like no Wi-Fi in the classroom except the library, and the library has no good books or peaceful environment to read. The science labs construction is not finished. elevators don't work properly, air-conditioned rooms are available till the 2nd floor, there are no water coolers available (just plain water dispenser ) and in the canteen food is stale. Although, the infrastructure is pretty nice.

Faculty: Teachers are well qualified with PhDs but are not very helpful, and are rude to students. They lack punctuality, work ethics, and professionalism, there are no rules and regulations to be followed. During online classes, they take classes anytime without any prior notice regarding classes, and now even in offline classes, they didn't provide schedules. Due to a lack of time management they didn't even complete the syllabus, (they ignored the main topic). The course curriculum is quite relevant but very vast. Exams are not very difficult because they left out the main topic and questions only which they have taught.

Other: I choose microbiology because it is very interesting and I like to study those tiny microbes and genetics. By studying in this college I called doomed upon myself. There are many fests celebrated, and if you're a Bengali, you'll feel connected ( not welcoming to non-Bengal). The scholarship is provided as well.

Excellent labs, but syllabus not upto the mark .

Placements: The college does not provide any sort of related placement or internship at B.Sc. Level. The only placement you will get is for sales and marketing with an annual package of 2 to 3 LPA that also only a few students got an opportunity from my batch.

Infrastructure: The campus is not too big, but the classrooms are okay, the labs are air conditioned and the library has free Wi-Fi. Labs are highly equipped and you will get to learn each piece of equipment thoroughly. They do provide good hostel facility but outside the campus.

Faculty: The syllabus they teach is not upto the mark. I have enrolled on Calcutta University for Masters and now I can feel that I have gained no knowledge, most of the topics that I should have learned in B.Sc. are untouched. The exams are not that difficult, and you will pass easily if you have attended the classes. Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable but you will not get proper exposure.

Other: The college organises many events, foreign collaborations are going on the college is at growing phase. You will enjoy your college life here. Overall, its a nice college if you want to work in labs and learn the techniques and get handy with the instruments but regarding placements, its a drawback.
