B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2026

The campus is filled with positive energy.
Placements: Tkm College of Engineering has the highest number of placements amongst KTU colleges and the placements in previous seasons were very good. The highest packages are 16 lpa, the lowest will be 3 lpa, and the average will be 6 lpa. Tata Elxsi is a common recruiter.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for the course is the best in KTU, and the department is good. Wi-Fi support is available for laptops and restricted but on request for smartphones. The library is world-class, with the best reference books. The hostel is very friendly, enthusiastic and friendly.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and supportive and when it comes to the qualifications of faculty members, they are highly qualified. They would research and help you in any manner possible. Teaching is good; it does take great effort to teach. The curriculum is up to par. And the students would be industry-ready.
Other: Good branch and course.

A good place for academics but an average place for campus life.
Placements: About 78% of the students were placed this year and the salary package was around 3 to 5 lakh per annum. The top recruiting companies are Infosys, Microsoft, Oracle, WIPRO etc. About 83% of the students got internship offers in different companies this year.
Infrastructure: Our department has its own department library as well as college central library for reference and we also have specialised labs for various branches of our course. Our hostels are good and each of them has its own gymnasium and mess. The quality of food is good and the medical facilities are available nearby.
Faculty: We have well experienced and well-equipped faculty members and their teaching is good. The curriculum is okay as it helps in gaining knowledge but it won't be enough to make us industry ready we must gain skill experience by doing internships in various companies.
Other: I choose this course because I was more interested in electronic devices and gadgets. The most magnificent thing about our college is our annual Techfest Hestia.

I had a good experience at one of the prominent colleges in Kerala.
Placements: About 10-12 companies visited the campus for recruiting electronics, electrical and computer science students of my senior batch (I was an ECE student). About 140 students were placed in one company. The other companies recruited students in smaller numbers (from 10 to 25). There is a placement cell in the college. They invited an external firm that conducted placement training, that year. The placement training workshop was conducted two times (3 days each). They were really helpful and enjoyable. There were classes on aptitude and language tests, mock interviews, group discussions and a lot of other informative topics.
Infrastructure: The college was founded in 1956. The buildings have architectural difference and beauty. There is a huge library with computers. Classrooms are spacious. There is a large auditorium where all the main events are conducted. There is also a large ground to conduct sports activities. Labs are well-equipped. The college is close to Kollam city and amenities are available at an accessible distance. There's a cafeteria within the campus providing good quality food.
Faculty: Many good teachers were available during my tenure. Many of them are the authors of curriculum textbooks. They helped us with learning and supported us in extracurricular activities too. They use traditional classroom teaching method and also presentations, digital documents etc. Within the department, a professor would be assigned to 60 students. The department has other teachers and HOD. The college followed the course curriculum of University of Kerala. Now, it is KTU (Kerala Technological University). The course curriculum was useful. Hoping more advanced topics would get added as time progresses.
Other: There's a large techno-managerial fest called Conjura conducted every year.

It is an awesome campus with all facilities.
Placements: We are very blessed to be in a college with such excellent placement drives. A very large number of companies approach our college every year, and most of the companies that visit the campus are software-based companies. Other companies too visit the campus every year. A good number of students from our college get recruited each year.
Infrastructure: Our college provides good infrastructural facilities. The medieval architecture is being used in the construction of buildings. It is such a splendid way of construction. It suits the campus surroundings so well. All the buildings are well-constructed and well-maintained by the management.
Faculty: Our faculty members are really wonderful. They are worthful. They do help us in all our academic and extracurricular activities. They do help us in organising various events like workshops, and other fests like arts fest and tech fests, etc. All of them are well qualified.
Other: Our college conducts arts festival, tech fests, workshops, and film fests, etc.

TKMCE is the best college in India.
Placements: The college provides more than 50% placements in core companies. The placement opportunities are high. A huge number of companies visit the college. The placement training is given at equal intervals of time. The placement cell provides students with better support, and the other technical cells are also good.
Infrastructure: The buildings of the college are the best. The college is fully developed. There are proper lift facilities, and safety measures are taken by the college. The parking facility for two-wheelers is not up to the mark. Other infrastructure facilities are better than any other engineering colleges. Proper guidelines are given to the students and teachers about everything.
Faculty: The faculty members are the best and qualified. Smart classes are efficiently organised. The interaction between the teachers and students during the class helps the students to understand the topics in a better way. Labs and seminar halls are separately allotted to each department, and they are well equipped.
Other: Events are properly organised every year. The fast and easily accessible Wi-Fi facility is available in the hostel as well as on the campus. The college trust gives the scholarships to the students. The surroundings of the college are not that good. The garbage is dumped near the college, and it is not proper. It is the responsibility of the citizens and also the shop owners to keep the environment clean.

Small campus but, great infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: While I have not gone for placement interview, the feedback I got from my senior batch says that the placement interview was hard as most companies asked basic fundamental questions which many were unable to answer. The question was based on fundamentals so, those whose have great base were the only ones that answered the question. Companies like TCS, wipro etc. Are the Companies that came. The students were given many roles ranging from intern to manager. I think the highest was about 5-6 Lacs per annum. Yes, there is a placement cell which gives us some basic training. This year I think they have decided to increase the training, I have a 4 day class in this month by the placement cell.
Infrastructure: While the campus is small compared to other colleges it have not affected the quality of any buildings. The only thing affected is that there is no space between different department blocks and each of them are connected to each other. There is enough equipments in each lab and is of good quality. Good class room each with a projector and loud speaker system. Each class room are properly ventilated. There is Wi-Fi and each student can access it by making an account inside the campus. There is a large central library with above 80,000 books and there is also a department library for each department also having large no. Of books. There is a campus doctor. Our college is also active in sports we have an indoor badminton court, an outdoor basketball court, a large ground for soccer and cricket etc. We also have a digital library where students can use computer and access the NET using Wi-Fi. The canteen is good and there different types of tasty food there and there are many small coffee shops at different regions of the college. Before coming to college I was afraid getting admission in an hostel, but, I was relieved when I found out that all first years can get admission to two college hostel free of any senior students in order to avoid ragging. Second year onwards you can move to another college hostel or stay in a private one. Girls have separate hostels. There are many hostels run by college management which are affordable. I can honestly say that I didn't face any issue due to infrastructure during my stay here for 3 years.
Faculty: The faculty is very helpful. I cannot say that all teachers are good at teaching here, majority are. But, everybody is very helpful. Some are excellent and very qualified. Some lack the lustur of teaching. They mainly use the blackboard and the projector. They first explain the concept in blackboard then show us videos or PPT regarding the topic or teach using PPT. The student-faculty ratio is about 8 or 7 students per a teacher. Some exposure to industry as the department sometimes coordinates talk by industrial experts, organise some workshops now and then. Our HOD constantly message us about internship or online course opportunities, he is very helpful. He tell us about opportunities or events that we may otherwise not know of. The course curriculum was only helpful to an extend. As some topic tends to bore when syllabus do not explain it fully.
Other: There were many cultural and technical fest. Conjura was such an event a technical fest. On top of there is art fest. Annual sports meet. Charitable works like 'sukirtha' etc. As the college hostels are near college there is a sense great connectivity between people. There are WhatsApp groups for official and non official for each class and department. The campus surroundings are great atmosphere away from the city. But, not too far to cause difficulty. Great atmosphere for games etc.

The impartiality in imparting knowledge.
Placements: The placements provided are mostly in IT sector. If you are lucky enough, then a core company could come for recruitment at the time of placement. You must have to dig around to get a well earning job. Most of the industries and top companies are not interested in coming because Kollam is not an industry based city, unlike Trivandrum or Kochi. You will be given placement assistance before the placement event for free of cost. You will get a maximum of 8 lacs per annum package if you are too brilliant and hard working. That too, maybe 1 or 2 students are selected from the whole batch.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is well adequate. All the labs are equipped with the latest industry demanding state of the art machines and devices. Although you may feel a lack of vast ground space, it is sufficient for the one who is not more into sports. The branches are arranged block-wise, i.e., each building is for each branch.
Faculty: The quality of faculty varies with branches. I was a student of the ECE department. I felt my department's faculty are not up to the mark except a few, most of them really don't have deep knowledge of the subject. I think this was not the case with other departments like EEE, mechanical and civil. These branches have extremely good and knowledgeable faculty. CS and chemical faculty are not bad at all.
Other: Although the campus is labelled as fully Wi-Fi enabled, I was not able to access it when I was studying there. Conjura, conducted in 2011, was the all-time best fest. All other preceding fests were just a shadow of it, as normal as any other college.I don't think the funding the college received Tequip (10cr) from the World Bank was rightly directed, most of it must be in the pockets of TKM's faculty and trust. The climate is really hot in the place where college is situated, i.e., Karicode, Kollam, Kerala, India. The college entrance and the road are the worst. It will become worse during monsoon, and no action has yet been initiated till date, from the government/college trust, although the trust has two Mason colleges of Kollam together with a CBSE and a state school under the trust. All types of scholarships for an undergraduate are available. The college provides the best support for extracurricular activities. Now, there are multiple political parties contesting, but during my tenure, there was only 1 party, Techno (SFI based) which always supported trust's interests and not students.

Other: My college located at a few miles away from Kollam town. It is said to be the 2nd best engineering colleges (among government and aided) of the state. Our college provides various course like B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA etc. It is also one among the three Govt/Aided institution that provides chemical engineering in the state. Our institution also supports co curricular activities including sports and arts. Though the college has a small ground, it does have an indoor badminton court and volleyball court.

First of all your rank is pretty nice. But for getting computer science in a nice college it would be difficult but I think that you would get ECE or EEE in a nice college.
