Design Awareness, also known as DA in Design Entrance Exams are very important section. Almost all the design aptitude exams have questions on them. They play a very important role in the score. Let's see what kind of topics should be covered under Design Awareness.
In any Design Entrance Test, questions asked are to check creativity, observation skills, design thinking, spatial observation, design awareness, etc. The questions in the design exams are asked from various areas, such as mathematics, general knowledge, language, design aptitude test, etc. To be successful in the test, one must have a thorough knowledge of the exam pattern and syllabus. Commonly asked questions
There is no negative marking in NID DAT Prelims.
So, the candidate may attempt all the questions. If the wrong answer is selected, the candidate won't be penalized. However, if the correct answer option is selected, the candidate may get some free marks.
Note that the DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in an OMR-based mode. The candidate will need a blue/black ball-point pen for filling the OMR sheet.
IIT Bombay generally doesn’t conduct any mock tests for the UCEED exam. However, if it does conduct any mock tests for the exam, it will include similar type of questions to the ones asked in the entrance exam. This means, the questions will be of the same difficulty level, and will cover the same topics. That being said the mock test may contain fewer number of questions that the actual exam.
By taking the mock tests, the candidate will be able to learn the navigation process and also give final touches to one’s UCEED preparation.
There is no negative marking in NID DAT exam. The candidate is recommended to go through the detailed exam pattern to get insights into the question paper structure, including types of questions asked, sections, etc.

- Read newspapers and Magazines: Newspapers are the best source of knowledge for anyone preparing for NIFT, NID, UCEED, etc. They have information about what's happening in the design world.
- Solve PYQs: This will help to know what kind and level of questions are asked in this section. Try to solve the past 10 years PYQs.
- Observe everyday products: This will help you to know how a design functions and solves problems. It will help in creating models, sketches, etc.
- Be aware of trends: Know about what's going on in the fashion industry, what is launched in the market, who wore what, which designer went to MET GALA, Cannes, etc.
- Visit Exhibitions and Museums: Visit art galleries and museums. Go and observe the art and work, colors, pencils and papers used.
