UCEED Syllabus 2027 - The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, releases the syllabus for UCEED. The syllabus is released online at the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal. Part A of UCEED 2027 is administered in a computer-based test (CBT) mode and will have three sections (NAT, MSQ, and MCQ). Meanwhile, UCEED Part B has two sections: 1) the Drawing-based section, and 2) the Design Aptitude Section. One question is asked in each section. 

IIT Bombay conducts the national-level UCEED Entrance Examination in the third week of January, 2027. The merit rank of UCEED 2027 will be used to offer admission to the B.Des program offered by participating institutes.

Yes, the UCEED 2027 syllabus given above can be exhaustive and indicative of the types of questions that will be asked in the UCEED 2027 exam. This means the candidate is not required to prepare for any other topics than the ones listed here to ace the exam. However, it may be noted that the UCEED 2027 question paper may not include questions from all the topics.

The UCEED exam will have two parts - Part A and Part B. Part A will include Numerical Answer Type NAT Multiple Select Question (MSQ), Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Meanwhile, Part B will include drawing and aptitude-based questions. Note that in the previous edition of the exam, Part B include only sketching-based question. In the last few months leading up to the UCEED 2026 exam, the candidate needs to follow this routine: If you have maintained a note, ensure you regularly go through the important points. Do timely revision of all the topics, especially the sticky concepts. Solve as many sample papers you can. Also take mock tests to get into the exam mood. Mocks will help you get an exam like ambience and you can get an idea as to how the question paper would be look like, the sections you need to attempt first, etc. Pay close attention to your health - sleep the full quote of hours, stay hydrated, do light exercise, and stay happy. It is also a good idea to not start any new topic at this stage of exam preparation.

Candidates must attempt both Part A and Part B. Candidates are urged to go through the detailed UCEED exam pattern to get additional insights - marking scheme, section-wise weightage, etc. For the sketching test (Part B), the candidate will be provided answer sheets inside the exam hall.

How to prepare for UCEED 2027 using the syllabus

The tips to prepare for UCEED 2027 are

  • Go through the UCEED syllabus
  • Divide the syllabus into smaller parts, so that you can make a plan, for instance, which topic to study first.
  • It is recommended that you complete the easy topics first.
  • Once you are done with the easy topics, focus on the moderate-to-difficult topics.
  • Don't spend so much time on it. Better move on or take help. If you have time left, you can always come back and tackle that topic.

If you are preparing for the exam at home, then keep the following points in mind.

  • Carefully go through the exam syllabus and pattern
  • Make a study timetable and stick to it, no matter what
  • Solve sample papers and previous year's question papers
  • Try to complete the entire syllabus, but don't waste prodigious time if you are unable to solve a problem. Either take help or move on to the next topic. If you have time, come back and tackle the problem later
  • Work on your drawing and observation skills.
  • Be judicious with your time.

  • You can also get question papers and sample papers from the books available.

To be eligible to apply for B.Des programme through UCEED, candidates should have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects in 10+2. 

Q:   I am from Humanities background, but have cleared UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam. Can I apply for IIT Roorkee B.Des programme?
A: 

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

Q:   Can Commerce stream students apply for IIT Bombay B.Des after getting a rank in the UCEED Entrance Exam 2026?
A: 

Yes, students from all the streams can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore. They can fill the Joint seat allocation form if they have cleared the UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam.

Q:   What documents are required to fill the Common application form for B.Des in IITs?
A: 

To fill the Common application form for B.Des released by IIT Bombay,  

  • Digital copies of relevant supporting documents, and the signed copy of the completed application form. 
  • Supporting documents required for the application are digital copies of photograph, signature, UCEED Score Card, qualifying examination Mark Sheet (Class XII or equivalent), and where applicable, EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST Certificate, PwD Certificate, and OCI/PIO Card.
Q:   How many seats are there in UCEED 2026 for B.Des Programme?

There will be a total of around 245 seats in IITs for the UCEED 2026 B.Des Programme. IIT Bombay will offer 37 seats, IIT Delhi will have 20 seats and IIT Guwahati will have 56 seats.

Yes, you need to fill the ADEPT Application form even if you have scored rank under 2500 in UCEED. Only one step will be eliminated, which is ADEPT written exam.
