Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College offers various courses in Engineering, IT and Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At both UG & PG levels, it offers two courses each. The college was ranked among the top 250 colleges across India in the year 2021 by MHRD, New Delhi.

Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College Undergraduate Courses

1. BTech (Bachelor of Technology)

It is a four-year engineering program that provides theoretical as well as practical knowledge of technology. This course is completely focused on the technical syllabus of different specialisations.
College offers BTech in 10 specialisations for the duration of four years (three years for diploma holder students). 

Selection Criteria for BTech Courses

Admission to this course is on the basis of marks scored in UPSEE. To secure admission, students must have a good rank (under 10,000) in the UPSEE exam. Students scoring higher ranks may get a call in case of vacant seats in the SPOT round (last round). If the seats remain vacant, then admissions are on the basis of JEE Main score or PCM percentage under the management quota.

BTech Course Curriculum

It has eight semesters and every semester has assignments, tests, and exams followed by project work. University exam has 70% weightage and internal exams have a combined weightage of 30%. To appear in exams, students must have at least 75% attendance.

After BTech, there are a plethora of career opportunities. One can go for higher studies, campus placements, PSUs, Civil Services Exams, Defence Services, etc.

2. B.Voc. (Bachelor of Vocational)

This course is completely different from other undergraduate programmes as it is more inclined towards application-based studies rather than theoretical knowledge. It is a three-year duration course that is offered in a wide range of fields like healthcare, food technology, graphic designing, engineering, etc.

College offers B.Voc. courses in two specialisations.

Selection Criteria for B.Voc. 

Admission to this course is on the basis of UPSEE counselling. On the basis of marks scored in the last exam, a merit list is prepared and students are called for admission. Candidates with a Level 4 certificate from any recognised technical/skill/vocational board are also eligible for admission.

B.Voc. Course Curriculum      

The course curriculum of B.Voc. is purely industry-based as it mainly focuses on practical knowledge. Each semester has projects, training, assignments, practical exams, etc. Projects and seminars have more weightage than exams.

This program aims at imparting a particular knowledge and skills required for a specific job to students. After completing this program students can work in various fields of new product development, designing, quality, maintenance, automation, etc.

Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College Postgraduate Courses

1. MCA (Masters of Computer Applications)

It is a three-year postgraduate course that trains students in computer programming, application software, computer architecture, and operating systems.

Selection Criteria

Admission to MCA is on the basis of marks scored in UPSEE. To secure admissions, the student must have a rank under 1300 in the UPSEE exam. Students having higher rank may get vacant seats in the SPOT round (last round of UPSEE counselling). 

Course Curriculum of MCA       

The course curriculum for this program is IT-based and inclined towards computer programming. It has six semesters and each semester is judged on the basis of tests, projects, sessional tests, and university exams. It deals with the study of data structure, algorithms and different programming languages. 

Opportunities after MCA

After pursuing this course, there are various opportunities in the IT industry. Students may get into reputed MNCs through campus placements and off-campus as well.

2. MTech (Master of Technology)

It is a two-year engineering postgraduate program that focuses on practical aspects of technology. This course is completely different from BTech as it is mainly focused on research work and projects in accordance with the specialisation
College offers an MTech program in four specialisations for the duration of two years.

Selection Criteria for MTech

Admission to this course is on the basis of marks scored in the GATE exam. To secure admission, a student must have qualified the GATE exam with a valid score card (a GATE score card is valid for three years). If seats remain vacant then admissions are on the basis of CGPA/Percentage.

MTech Course Curriculum

In its four semesters, the first two semesters are theory based but the last two semesters are completely based on research and project work. To complete this program, a thesis needs to be submitted to acquire the degree. One must have at least 75% attendance to appear in the final exams. 

Career Opportunities after MTech

After MTech, career opportunities just double in comparison to BTech as more opportunities in the field of research and teaching open. MTech students also get a stipend amount of INR 12,400 every month. Besides all BTech opportunities, one can go for assistant professor jobs or in the R&D field after MTech.
