The most important rule in ABES Engineering College for students is to maintain 75% attendance throughout the semester to be eligible to appear for the exam.

ABES Engineering College conducts exams in two categories, internal exam and external exam. All the internal exams are conducted by the college itself and the external ones by AKTU.

ABES Engineering College is located in Delhi NCR and is affiliated with the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. It is one of the top-ranked colleges of AKTU. The college has prestigious NAAC accreditation and NBA certified courses in its portfolio. The college has also been rated 4.5 by the Innovation Cell of the Government of India. ABES Engineering College has a Wi-Fi enabled campus with a soothing, lush green environment. There are facilities like a swimming pool, high-end laboratories, a well-equipped central library, a state-of-the-art auditorium, a fully modernised cricket stadium with floodlights, smart classes, a sports complex, a fully video-monitored campus, a hostel, fully air-conditioned seminar rooms and much more. The college offers a variety of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently, the college has 5,000 students enrolled in all the courses.

Exams in ABES Engineering College

The exams in ABES EC are conducted in various phases. There are two popular categories available for the exams, internal exam and external exam. All the internal exams are conducted by the college itself. Since the college is affiliated with the AKTU, the state university is responsible for conducting all the external examinations. 

The internal exam comprises weekly class tests, monthly sessional exams, and pre-university tests. One year of BTech is divided into two semesters and each semester is subject to completion in six months. All the internal exams are periodically repeated every semester. After the successful completion of all internal exams, the students are eligible to take external exams that are conducted at the end of every semester.

For admission thorugh conseling, the eligibility criterias are-

1. Passed Bachelor’s degree course of three years from any recognised Indian University or its equivalent; recognised by A.I.U.

2. Secured minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) marks inaggregate.

For admission thorugh management quota, the eligibility criterias are-

1. Firstly, candidates Qualified UPSEE (Current Year) will be considered for admission.

2. Secondly admission is given by the merit of candidates in qualifying examinations.

The external exam covers written exams, practicals and viva. The exams are conducted by the university after the completion of the semester. Although students are promoted even after failing the external exams, it is expected of the students to clear all the exams before the completion of the final semester.

Pre-University Exams 

The college conducts the Pre-University Exams (PUE) every semester. The main aim of this exam is to make students familiar with the exam pattern, syllabus and time constraints. The overall structure of the exam is the same as the external exams.

Duration of Pre-University Exams

The semesters are categorised as odd semesters and even semesters. Odd semesters are from July to January and the even semester covers the months from February to June. The pre-university exams are conducted three to two weeks before the external exams. Usually, the PUE is conducted in November or December for odd semesters and for even semesters, it is conducted in late April or May. The dates are flexible as it depends on the datesheet of external exams.

External Exams

As we discussed earlier, the external exams are conducted by the state university AKTU. It is conducted upon the successful completion of all the internal exams. The exams include written tests and practicals. State university allots centres to students to take exams other than in their own colleges. The actions are taken against mischievous activities like cheating, colleges giving favours to their students etc. 

Duration of External Exams

The exams are conducted at the end of each semester. Usually, the exam is conducted in Dec and January for odd semesters and for even semesters, it is conducted in May and June. The dates may vary due to the ongoing pandemic. The practical examination is conducted two weeks after the completion of the external examination. 

Rules of External Exams 

There are several rules expected to be followed by the students. The most important rule is that the students need to maintain 75% attendance throughout the semester to be eligible to appear for the exam. Some other rules are :

1. UFM Rules: It is expected of the students to write clean and fair exams without indulging in any mischievous activity. The penalty for Unfair Means (UFM) is imposed after being caught red-handed. This could even lead to expulsion from the college. 

2. Rules for detained students: Students detained in the odd or even semester will have an option to choose either to discontinue the study in that semester and abandon the entire academic year or to abandon only the affected semester. The penalty is also subject to the seriousness of the crime.
