From a Novice to a Software Developer: Saiyam Mahajan

The course which I am currently pursuing requires me to act as an intern at a fictional company called ACE Enterprises where I report to managers instead of professors. One other cool feature of this course is that the course teaches you the subjects that are needed for the future world and makes you a professional, all ready for the corporate world.

"Sometimes in life, it is best to take a step back and look at the big picture"

Since childhood, I have always been interested in computers. As a result, I took up science in 11th and 12th class. Why did I do that? I felt that science would give me more opportunities to contribute to a better tomorrow through the smallest of acts.

After 12th, just like any other student, I was really confused about what to pursue and where from? So one day, I read in the newspaper about an education fair at a place in New Delhi (my home). Interestingly, I went there with my parents and after spending so much time checking out universities, we were tired and decided to go home. As we were going back, I read a banner called Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University) offering B.Tech in Computer Science with specialization in Software Development course. The name of the course urged me to go meet the staff present there once. Convincingly, I knew that this course would take me to greater heights and that's why in a month, I was enrolled in this esteemed university. Now, having studied here for six months, I don't regret my decision.

MM(DU) is a place offering a perfect blend of academics, extra-curricular activities. The course which I am currently pursuing requires me to act as an intern at a fictional company called ACE Enterprises where I report to managers instead of professors. One other cool feature of this course is that the course teaches you the subjects that are needed for the future world and makes you a professional, all ready for the corporate world.

College is a terrifying and overwhelming experience. I don't think I have enough words to describe the amazing experience I am having in MM(DU). The university gives you an opportunity to learn new things everyday and showcase your skills, talents through fests, regular healthy competitions. Along with computers, music and football are the other things that I am passionate about. Being here for half a year, I have participated in music and football competitions here & the exposure one gets is overwhelming.

My achievements in these six months include winning Inter-College Football Tournament, selected for the final round for MM(DU) Singing Idol (a university-based singing competition), winning a MUN (Model United Nations) competition at DU where I represented MM(DU).

Overall, I believe my whole perspective on life has changed after joining this college. The college experience has made me more creative and taught me how to manage my personal and professional life. Here, I’ve recognized my strengths and weaknesses and learnt how to convert my weaknesses into strength. I hope to make the years left in my course a memorable experience.
