IIT Indore to offer Short Term Course in Space Craft
Inspired by ISRO’s bracing projects, Indian Institute of Technology, Indore has come up with a Ten Day-Short Term Course on - Space Craft and Payload Pointing and Control.
The short term course will be conducted by the department of Continuing Education and Improvement Programmes in the IIT Indore campus. The classes for the programme are expected to commence from May 15, 2017. In order to get enrolled into the short term course, the interested CEP participants from ISRO, CSIR, DRDO, GOI organizations or any other academic institute need to register themselves with the payment of Rs.40, 000 as a One –Time registration fee. Whereas, the participants from various other industries need to pay a One-time registration fee of Rs.50,000. After the successful payment of the registration fee, the participants will have to mail the complete registration form to the Coordinator of the programme, as on or before May 1, 2017.
Key Highlights of the CEP Ten Day Short Term Course
The course programme is specially designed to benefit the professionals in the aerospace organization, dealing with satellites and payload motion control. Institutions and Teachers who intend to include spacecraft sciences or aerospace in their curriculum can also get enrolled.
Illustrations and application of theory to the ISRO and NASA spacecraft, will be an integral part of this course.
The Spacecraft and Payload Pointing and Control short term course will comprise of the following contents:
- Attitude kinematics and dynamics
- Spin stabilization for transfer orbit
- Spin stabilization in orbit
- Attitude control in space – basics
- Magnetic attitude control
- Momentum-biased attitude stabilization
- Momentum-biased satellites control with jets
- Time-energy optimal control for large-angle maneuvers: single-axis
- Reaction jet pulse-modulated attitude control: single-axis
- Structural dynamics and liquid sloshing
- Attitude control of flexible satellites
- Attitude control of flexible bias-momentum geosynchronous communication satellites
- Precise tracking of moving targets
- Scanning/spinning payload controllers and image motion compensator
- Attitude determination and Kalman filtering

IIT Indore cutoff 2026 is out for admission to the MSc course for round 1. The cutoff was declared in the form of opening and closing ranks for different All India categories.
For the General AI category, the first round cutoff ranged from 48 to 471, wherein M.Sc. in Astronomy was the easiest course
