IIT Kharagpur offers a joint MTech/ MCP PhD programme to students who have completed their UG degree in the relevant stream. Under this programme, at the end of the first year, interested students with a CGPA of 8.0 and above are eligible to appear for a written test and/or interview to check their suitability to enrol for PhD. Those who do not qualify for PhD can continue with their two-year MTech/MCP programme. Students selected for PhD will have to complete the two-year academic requirements of MTech/ MCP programme before enrolment for PhD. For these students, the MTech/MCP and PhD degrees will be awarded together upon successful completion of PhD. The programme is open to students of all categories with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ MSc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE, etc.) with a valid GATE score.

NIT Rourkela BTech +M.Tech in Mining Engineering cut off trend has been increasing in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for BTech under General category for all India quota was 35458. In 2022, it increased to 53000. The cut off ranks have changed from 54879 to 68996 for OBC, 7721 to 6365 for SC, and 6415 to 193470 for ST. No, candidates cannot get admission to DTU without appearing for JEE Main as the DTU BTech counselling is done through JAC Delhi. The basic criteria for admission to BTech is appearing for JEE Mains. To get into DTU, candidates must score decent marks or at least around 220 or above marks in JEE Mains. The only way to get into DTU without appearing for JEE Main is by taking a lateral entry admission to BTech second year.
