Indian Coast Guard Age Limit
Male candidates between 18 and 22 years of age are eligible to apply for the posts. SC/ST and OBC candidates will get five years and three years upper-age relaxation, respectively.
Indian Coast Guard Educational Qualification
- Candidates must complete Class 10 or Matriculation
- Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical/Electronics and Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) with 60 per cent in aggregate
- SC/ST candidates will get five per cent relaxation in minimum cut off
- Anyone who has outstanding records in sports at the national level will also get five per cent relaxation in minimum cut off
- 10th class passed from an education board recognized by Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) and Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical / Electronics and Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
Indian Coast Guard Yantrik Selection Process
Selection process for Yantrik includes a written test, physical fitness test (PFT) and initial medical examination. After the final medical examination, candidates will be enrolled for a training.
Written Test (Stage I)

- This test will be objective in nature containing MCQs
- Questions will be asked from respective branches (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunication) along with a few questions from General Knowledge, Reasoning, General Aptitude and English
- Candidates will be called for the test after being shortlisted by the exam conducting body
- Short-listing criteria for applications will be based on higher percentage of marks in the diploma
- Indian Coast guard reserves the right to increase the qualifying percentage for a particular centre if more number of applications are received with higher percentage of marks
Physical Fitness Test (PFT) (Stage II)
Those who qualify Yantrik written test will undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and initial Medical Examination. The testing procedure will take 2-3 days. Find the parameters of PFT below.

Medical examination (Stage III)
Based on the performance in the written exam and PFT, candidates will be called for medical examination. Passing this medical examination will confirm the selection of the candidates as candidates will be subjected for the final medicals examination at INS Chilka. Indian Coast Guard Yantrik Exam Centres
Indian Coast Guard exam city is released for Yantrik post. Candidates can check their allotted cities by logging with user ID and password. The details regarding the Indian Coast Guard exam centres is mentioned on the admit card. The exam is conducted across multiple exam centres and cities spread over nine zones. Candidates are required to give five preferences of Indian Coast Guard exam centres while filling the application form for Stage-I and II process. Candidates are required to fill the first choice within 30 kms from the present/communication residence. If there are no exam centres within 30 km from the current address, then the nearest exam city from the first choice are required to be entered by candidates.
Indian Coast Guard Yantrik Syllabus 2026
Indian Coast Guard syllabus covers the topics and sub-topics that candidates need to cover for the exam. Secton I syllabus comprises subjects such as Maths, Science, English, Reasoning and GK. Section III syllabus comprises topics from Electrical Engineering. Section IV syllabus comprises topics from Electronic Engineering. Section V syllabus comprises topics from Mechnical Engineering. The standard of the syllabus is of Class 10 and diploma in Engineering level.
