APTET 2023 Exam will be conducted tentatively in the month of June 2023. According to some media houses, the application form will be available in the month of May 2023. For aspirants who want to become a teacher in the schools of Andhra Pradesh then APTET is a great opportunity for the candidates. The qualified candidates will become eligible for the recruitment exam for lower and upper primary teachers. The lower primary teachers will teach in classes 1 to 5 and the upper primary teachers will teach in classes 6 to 8. The APTET carries a weightage of 20 per cent in the District Selection Committee (DSC) Teacher's Entrance Exams.

What is AP TET?

Department of School Education, Government of AP conducts Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) to determine the eligibility of candidates as teachers of Classes 1 to 8 in all schools of Andhra Pradesh (Government/ZP/MP/Municipal/Recognised Private Aided & Private Unaided etc). The APTET 2023 will be conducted by the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh in several exam centres in various districts in Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Odissa. AP TET 2023 will be held online as a Computer Based Test (CBT). "The objective is to ensure National Standards and benchmark of Teacher quality in the recruitment process in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)", informs the official notification of APTET.

Appearing in APTET Exam

APTET Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates need to meet the AP TET eligibility criteria 2023 for Paper 1 (Part A & B) and Paper 2 (Part A & B) in order to appear for the exam. Have a look at the basic eligibility conditions below:

AP TET Educational Qualifications for Paper 1 Part A (Classes 1 to 5):

  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary with at least 50 per cent marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BelEd) OR 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR
  • Graduation and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR Bachelor of Education (BEd) OR
  • Post Graduation with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated BEd/ MEd

AP TET Educational Qualifications for Paper 1 Part B (Classes 1 to 5) (Special Schools): RCI Qualifications Elementary:-

  • Intermediate/ Senior Secondary and two year DEd Special Education in any of the categories of disability OR one-year Diploma in Special Education (DSE) in any of the categories of disability OR
  • Diploma in Community-Based Rehabilitation (DCBR) with 6 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs OR
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (PGDCBR) with 6 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs OR
  • Diploma in Multi Rehabilitation Worker (MRW) with 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs OR
  • Junior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf OR Primary level Teacher Training course in Visual Impairment OR Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation – Mental Retardation (DVR-MR) / Diploma in Vocational Training and Employment – Mental Retardation (DVTE-MR) with 6 months
  • Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs OR
  • Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech (DHLS) with 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs OR

AP TET Educational Qualifications for Paper 2 Part A (Classes 6 to 8):

Mathematics and Science Teachers/ Social Studies Teachers/ Language Teachers

  • At least 50 per cent marks either in Graduation/ Post Graduation with BEd OR
  • Graduation with at least 45 per cent marks and 1 year Bachelor of Education in accordance with the NCTE OR Graduation with at least 50 per cent marks and 1 year BEd (Special Education) OR
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 years Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEIEd) OR 4 years BA/ BScEd or BAEd/ BScEd OR
  • Post Graduation with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade and three years integrated BEd-MEd

Note: The minimum percentage of marks in graduation will not be applicable to those who had already taken admission to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education prior to July 29, 2011. The relaxation of up to 5 per cent in the qualifying marks will be allowed to the SC/ ST/ BC/ PH.

AP TET Educational Qualifications for Language Teachers (Classes 6 to 8):

Graduation with Language concerned as one of the Optional Subjects (or) Bachelor of Oriental Language (or its equivalent) (or) Graduation in Literature (or) Post Graduation in Language concerned and Language Pandit Training Certificate/ B.Ed with Language concerned as one of the Methodologies, in respect of Language Teachers

AP TET Educational Qualifications For Paper 2 Part B (Special Schools) RCI Qualifications Secondary

  • Graduate with BEd (Special Education)/ BEd (General) with a one-year Diploma in Special Education / BEd (General) with two years Diploma in Special Education OR

Weightage to APTET 2023 scores for Teacher Recruitment in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh Government gives 20 per cent weightage to the AP TET scores in teacher recruitment in the state. The balance 80 per cent weightage is given for the written test in the Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) based on which the selection list is prepared. However, only qualifying for the APTET 2023 exam would not confer a right on any candidate for recruitment or employment.

APTET 2023 Exam Day Guidelines

  • Candidates must bring APTET admit card 2023 to the examination centre
  • Candidates need to carry one photo identity proof and a passport-size photo to the centre
  • Strict actions are taken against candidates found guilty of misconduct

APTET Teacher Salary 2023

The  APTET is an eligibility test and candidates will not be recruited after the APTET 2023 exam. Andhra Pradesh government announces vacancies for primary and upper primary teachers according to the need of departments. After the recruitment exam, the candidates will be recruited as primary and upper primary teachers in schools of Andhra Pradesh. The salary of primary and upper primary teachers of Andhra Pradesh government schools has been given below:

  • The primary teachers will get  INR 9500 to 35400 as in hand salary. The grade pay for the APTET primary teacher is INR 4200
  • The upper primary teachers will get INR 9300 to 44900 as in hand salary. The grade for APTET upper primary teacher is INR 4600
  • The other benefits for the primary and upper teachers will be available after the completion of the probation period 
  • Upper primary and primary teachers will get promoted according to their seniority

The vacancies for the APTET-qualified candidates will be released by the Department of Education, Andhra Pradesh on the official website. However, the notification for the recruitment will be announced for 12000 posts for various subjects. The candidates who have qualified for the APTET exam can apply for these posts.
