
RPF SI Exam Pattern 2024: The Ministry of Railways prescribes the RPF SI exam pattern for Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT). RPF SI exam pattern 2024 for CBT is such that it is divided into three sections- General Awareness, Arithmetic, and General Intelligence & reasoning. Besides Hindi and English, the CBT is conducted in regional languages too. The standard of the syllabus is graduation level. There are also negative marks for wrong answers in the exam. RPF SI exam pattern is such that it comprises CBT 1, PET/PMT, Document Verification and Medical Exam. The CBT comprises three sections. The standard of questions is of graduation-level. Each question carries one mark and there is also negative marks. Candidates are required to obtain 35 per cent marks (30 per cent marks by SC and ST candidates) to qualify the CBT. Questions in the test are asked from General Awareness, Arithmetic, and General Intelligence & Reasoning. The test carries a total of 120 marks. PET is qualifying in nature and candidates are given different tasks.

RPF SI exam pattern 2024 for CBT is given below:
- Candidates have the option to choose a language for CBT from Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Konkani, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Odia, Assamese, Manipuri and Punjabi
- The standard of questions in RPF SI exam will be of graduation-level
- Each question carries one mark
- There is a negative marking for wrong answers which is 1/3 marks
- No marks are awarded or deducted for questions not attempted by candidates
- Candidates are required to obtain 35 per cent marks (30 per cent marks by SC and ST candidates) to qualify the CBT
- The duration of the test is 90 minutes. The exam paper will have a total of 120 questions
- Questions in the test will be asked from General Awareness, Arithmetic, and General Intelligence & Reasoning
- The test carries a total of 120 marks

For correct answers, candidates score one mark. 1/3 marks are deducted for wrong answers. The formula to calculate the scores is given below:
Total score= (Number of Right answers) x 1 – (Number of incorrect answers) x 1/3
RPF SI exam is conducted in multiple shifts, as a result of which, there is are variations in the difficulty level of question papers. To adjust the variations in the difficulty level of question papers across various sessions, normalisation of marks is done. The normalisation is done using the standardised formula.
RPF SI qualifying marks for SC and ST candidates are different from General category. The qualifying marks of RPF SI Is given below.

Based on the merit of candidates in the CBT, they will be called for PET and PMT 10 times the number of vacancies. It is mandatory to clear the PET and the same is qualifying in nature. Candidates need to qualify in all the tests to be considered for selection. RPF SI exam pattern for PET is given below.

The candidates who appear in document verification will be sent for a medical examination at the Railway Hospitals. They will have to qualify in the medical category ‘B-1’ as prescribed in the Indian Railway Medical Manual. Those wearing glasses or having flat foot, knock knee, squint eyes, colour blindness and other bodily defects are not eligible for an appointment.
Adequate number of candidates are selected for RPF SI PET/PMT. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies are selected for PET and PMT. It is mandatory to clear the PET and the same is qualifying in nature. Candidates need to qualify in all the tests to be considered.

- Based on the performance of candidates in the CBT and subject to their qualifying in PET & PMT, candidates are called for document verification
- In cases of two or more candidates securing the same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria i.e. older person is given higher seniority
- The appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration
- The final verification of educational and category certificates, verification of character and antecedents of the candidates from the local administration and successful completion of initial training
- Candidates who do not appear for document verification will not be considered in the final selection, irrespective of their performance in written examination and PET/PMT
