Presidency University, the PUBDET conducting agency, prescribes the eligibility criteria. Check details below:

PUBDET Exam Eligibility: Academic Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or any equivalent examination from a recognized board/council.

  • Candidates must have cleared their qualifying examination not before 2025 to be eligible for the 2026 session.

  • Candidate must pass the examination with at least five recognized subjects (full marks of not less than 100 in each), including English language and excluding compulsory Environmental Science.

PUBDET Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

There is no upper or lower age limit to apply for the PUBDET exam. Anyone meeting the academic qualifications can appear.

PUBDET Criteria: Calculation of Aggregate Score

The Aggregate Score is to be calculated in percentage considering the scores obtained by the candidate in the best four recognized subjects at the (10+2) Board Examination. This calculation remains independent of the specific subjects applied for in the form.

Candidates with International ‘A’ level or International Baccalaureate qualifications must have at least three subjects at the IGCSE level and three subjects at the ‘A’ level, with English as a compulsory component in either of the two levels.

PUBDET Exam Eligibility: Reservation Criteria

PUBDET prescribes specific reservation benefits for admission based on the categories defined above. The relaxation in minimum aggregate marks applies directly to SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates. Such candidates will have to submit their respective caste, tribe, or disability certificates issued by the Government to avail of the seat quotas during the final admission rounds.
