The  NIMCET 2026 seat allotment result will be released around the second or third week of July 2026. Candidates will be able to log in using the required credentials to check the NIMCET seat allotment result. Allotment of seats will be done based on the candidate's rank, preferences, category, and seat availability. To confirm their admission, candidates will need to confirm their admission before the final date, which is around the third week of July 2026. The special round of NIMCET counselling 2026 registration and choice filling will also be conducted.
During the NIMCET counselling process, registration, fee payment, and selection of choice of colleges will have to be done. The selection of colleges must be done in order of preference. The authorities will conduct four rounds of NIMCET 2026 counselling (including a special round). No fresh registration and choice filling will be allowed for the first three rounds of counselling.

NIMCET 2026 Counselling Process

The NIMCET counselling will be an online process. Please check the process for NIMCET counselling for reference.

  • Registration: Register yourself for the counselling process by filling out your personal details, as prompted.
  • Choice Filling: Fill in your choice of colleges in the order of preference. The candidates are advised to select as many choices as possible for a higher chance of allotment into the preferred colleges.
  • Fee Payment: Pay INR 1000 as the NIMCET 2026 counselling fee, online through net banking/credit card/debit card. No other mode of payment will be accepted.

Q:   Is there any provision to choose the date and time of NIMCET counselling?
A: 

No, as of September 2025, you are not allowed to choose the date and time of the NIMCET counselling. The exam-conducting body finalises the counselling schedule and they themselves announced the NIMCET 2025 counselling dates. You would need to register online and participate in the NIMCET counselling process by paying the fee and filling out your choices. Qualified candidates eligible to participate in the counselling will be declared qualified based on their NIMCET results. The allotment of seats was based on the marks secured in the NIMCET 2025 exam. NIMCET 2025 counselling was conducted in four rounds, and is now OVER.

Q:   Is it mandatory to carry a provisional certificate during NIMCET counselling?
A: 

You must verify all your documents during NIMCET counselling. You must also bring the original documents at the time of joining. The documents required for NIMCET Counselling are listed below:

  • NIMCET Admit Card
  • NIMCET Rank Card
  • Date of Birth Proof (10th marksheet)
  • 10th & 12th marksheets and passing certificates
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Category certificate
  • 4 Recent passport size photographs

NIMCET 2026 Seat Allotment

The NIMCET seat allotment will be announced via online mode. Seat allottment will be done according to the candidate's rank, college preference, and availability of seats. Candidates who will be allotted seats will have to report to their allotted institutes for document verification and admission confirmation. Failure to do so would result uin the cancellation of their admission. All of the required documents have to be submitted in the original and photocopies for verification. Candidates will also have to pay the required fee to confirm their admission. The authorities will conduct three rounds of NIMCET seat allotment results, along with a special round.

Q:   How many choices can be made by a candidate during the counselling process?
A: 

Candidates can fill in as many choices in the order of preference as they wish to from the list of available choices.
Candidates are permitted, if they so desire, to change or re-order their choices, delete earlier choices and add new choices any number of times until they lock their final choices. Choices should be positively locked before last date & time failing which last saved choices will be considered for allotment. Choices submitted in the first round of counselling will be processed up to third round.

Q:   What does an instruction page consist of?
A: 

When the candidate opens an application form, an instruction page pops up. The instruction page will provide all the important information about eligibility criteria, application fee, application form submission process, payment procedures, etc. Additionally, the candidate must read the instructions carefully and proceed only after doing so.

No, it is not mandatory to attempt every question in the NIMCET exam. In fact, due to the negative marking scheme, it is often a better strategy to leave questions unanswered if you are not confident about the correct answer.

The NIMCET is conducted by an individual NIT on a rotational basis every year. So the NIT that is conducting the NIMCET in that year will release the NIMCET answer key. In 2025, the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli conducted the NIMCET and hence, released the answer key.
