The WBJEE JECA 2026 exam pattern is available at wbjeeb.nic.in/jeca. The WBJEE JECA exam pattern informs about the mode of examination, duration, sections, question types, marking scheme, and more. The WBJEE JECA is going to be conducted as a pen-and-paper-based test at various exam centres. The exam duration is 2 hours, and the question paper will include 100 multiple-choice questions.

Q:   What is the marking scheme of WBJEE JECA?
A: 

In the WBJEE JECA, marking is done based on the question category. In Category I, 1 mark will be given for each correct answer and for every incorrect answer, a 1/4th mark will be deducted. In Category II, 2 marks will be given for each correct answer. No negative marking in Category II. 

Q:   What is the division of questions in the WBJEE JECA paper?
A: 

The WBJEE JECA question paper will be divided into two categories. The Category I will have 80 questions. Every correct answer will be awarded one mark. There is a negative marking of 1/4th mark in Category I. 

Candidates must attempt 20 questions in Category II. For every correct answer in Category II, two marks will be given. There is no negative marking.

Q:   What is the marking scheme of WBJEE JECA?
A: 

As per the official marking scheme of WBJEE JECA, the candidates will be marked according to the category in which the question lies.

  • Category I: One mark will be awarded for the correct answer. For each wrong answer in Category I, 1/4th mark will be deducted.

  • Category II: Two marks will be awarded for each correct answer. There is no negative marking for Category II.

A: 

Partial marks will be awarded if you have not marked any incorrect options.

No. Use only a blue or black ballpoint pen to darken the circles on OMR sheet. Answers marked with a pencil is not going to be read by the optical scanner.

  • Visit wbjeeb.nic.in/jeca and click the registration link.
  • Fill your basic details such as name, date of birth, mobile no. and email address.
  • Create a secure password.
  • An application no. will be generated once the registration process is complete.
  • Fill details.
  • Choose the JECA Exam Cities in order of preference.
  • Upload your scanned passport-size photo, digital signature and left thumb impression as per official specifications.
  • Pay application fee online through net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI.
  • After paying the fee, download the WBJEE JECA application form, and print the confirmation details.

Q:   I would like to alter my date of birth in the WBJEE JECA application form. Can I edit it?
A: 

No. You cant modify your date of birth in the WBJEE JECA application form. Hence, be extremely cautious while entering their details in the WBJE JECA application form. If the date of birth needs to be edited, the candidates must contact the officials as soon as possible to determine if any provision can be given to allow the necessary modifications.

Q:   Will all the information be available for edits in the WBJEE JECA application form?
A: 

No. Not all the details will be available for corrections in the WBJEE JECA application form. The candidates won't be able to edit/correct their fundamental details, i.e., their name, father's name, mother's name, gender, domicile and date of birth using the WBJEE JECA application correction facility. Hence, the candidates are recommended to be attentive while submitting their fundamental details in the JECA application form.

WBJEE JECA application fee is as follows - 

  • General category: INR 500.

All questions will be of Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) type, with four answer options and should be completed within 2 hours. The questions will be in English.

Q:   Is there negative marking in WBJEE JECA?
A: 

Yes. As per the official WBJEE JECA exam pattern, there is a negative marking for wrong answers. For Category I questions, 1/4th of the mark will be deducted for wrong answers. There is no negative marking for Category II questions. Because in Category I there is negative marking, the candidates should be cautious while giving answers.

Q:   Do I need to study for the aptitude test for WBJEE JECA?
A: 

No, you do not need to prepare for the Aptitude test as per the WBJEE JECA syllabus. The Aptitude and Mathematics section has been removed from the syllabus, and you would only need to study topics from the BCA and similar level courses.
