WBJEE JECA 2026 Domicile Criteria
Mandatory Domicile Status: You must be a domicile of West Bengal to apply for-
- Any seat (including General category) in Government-aided Colleges through WBJEE JECA exam
- Any Reserved Category seat (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS, PwD) in any institution.
Eligibility Criteria: You qualify as a domicile if you meet either condition-
- Residency: Continuous residence in West Bengal for at least 10 years (as of December 31, 2025).
- Parental Roots: Your parent(s) are permanent residents of West Bengal with a permanent address in the state.
Required Documentation-
- For 10-year Residents: Must obtain and submit Proforma ‘a1’.
- For Parental Residency: Must obtain Proforma ‘b’ OR provide two original ID documents (Voter ID, Aadhaar, Passport, or Ration Card) belonging to a parent that prove a West Bengal address.
- Reserved Category Exception: SC/ST/OBC candidates can use a West Bengal-issued category certificate in place of a domicile certificate. In case the category certificate is found invalid, you will automatically be treated as a Non-West Bengal candidate.
- Risk of Non-Compliance: If your domicile certificate is found invalid during counselling, you will lose eligibility for all reserved and Government-aided seats.
