Shiksha got talking to Agam to know his prep strategy and success mantra for the AILET exam. Read the complete interview below:

Q. Congratulations! Did you expect to be the topper of AILET 2019?

A.

I did expect to be the AILET 2019 topper but I feel I could have done better in the exam.

Q. Is NLU Delhi your first preference?

A.

NLU Delhi (National Law University Delhi) is one of the most premium law colleges in India and I might prefer it to other law colleges.

Q. Could you tell us your preparation strategy that helped you crack AILET exam?

A.

I kept up-to-date with national and international current affairs at all times, and studied the latest happenings in Supreme Court and Parliament. I also gave lots of mock tests, which is very important for overall AILET preparation and analysis.

Q. Did you taking any coaching for this exam?

A.

I did take test series of a couple of institutions like CLAT Prep Education.

Q. What study plan did you follow for this exam?

A.

I tried to balance studies with entertainment. I spent 5-6 hours daily for studies. Reading the newspaper is a must. Make sure you give a mock test every couple of days and analyse the mock in depth.

Q. Which books did you study for the exam?

A.

I referred to some basic books like RS Aggarwal for Reasoning and Mathematics. English was mostly intuitive but there are various sources online which offer objective type questions which are extremely helpful. GK again can be done from a variety of online sources and Newspapers.

Q. How did you deal with your strengths and your weaknesses while preparing for the exam?

A.

As I said before, giving AILET mock tests is of utmost importance and analysing them is too. By analysis you get to identify the strengths and weaknesses and areas which you need to target to boost your scores. Once identified, challenge yourself to improve your performance in that area over the next couple of mocks.

Q. Was law always your first preference?

A.

I always looked upto law with keen interest given the family background. But I made up my mind regarding law in 9th Standard. I have been preparing for law entrance exams after the 10th standard board examinations.

Q. Any tips for students who are planning to take the exam next year?

A.

Just make sure that you are regular towards your studies and work hard. Keep up with the current affairs on a day-to-day basis. Make sure you give plenty of mock tests, the more the better. And also analyse the mocks in depth and then manage your scores at a very micro level. Just keep working hard, hard work always pays off.

You need to appear for and qualify in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which is the primary entrance exam for most NLUs; ensure you meet the eligibility criteria of a completed bachelor's degree, then apply to your preferred NLU based on your CLAT score during the counselling process.
