GITAM School of Law Admission 2017: Eligibility & Application Process
School of Law at GITAM University offers different law courses to students such as five-year Integrated BA LLB (Hons), five-year Integrated BBA LLB (Hons), and three-year LLB.
Admission in these LLB courses is done on the basis of a candidate’s LSAT India or CLAT score. However, candidates not appearing for LSAT/ CLAT exam can also apply for direct admissions in LLB courses offered at GITAM University. Admission of such candidates is done on the basis of their performance in the personal interview round.
It may be noted that according to a university official, till 2012 admission in law courses offered at GITAM University were done on the basis of a candidate’s score in GITAM Law Admission Test (GLAT). However, in 2013 the varsity scrapped GLAT and started offering admissions mainly on the basis of CLAT/ LSAT score.
GITAM University application process for law course admissions 2017 has not started yet. GITAM School of Law admissions process for academic session 2016-17 is complete and classes for the same commenced from August 1, 2016.
Given below is GITAM School of Law eligibility criteria and application/ admission process 2017 for all the LLB courses offered by the university.
GITAM School of Law Eligibility Criteria for Admissions 2017
GITAM School of Law Eligibility Criteria for Five-Year BA LLB/ BBA LLB Course: All candidates who have passed Standard XII in 10+2 pattern with at least 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) fulfil GITAM School of Law eligibility criteria 2017. Candidates who are waiting for Standard XII exam results are also eligible to apply.
Age criteria: A candidate meets the eligibility criteria of GITAM University if they are not more than 20 years old (for General category admissions) and 22 years old (for SC/ ST/ PwD category admissions) as on July 1, 2017.
GITAM School of Law Eligibility Criteria for Three Year-LLB Course: To meet GITAM School of Law eligibility criteria 2017 for three-year LLB course, a candidate needs to be a graduate (except single sitting graduates from any distance mode education) in any stream (except BFA).
Also, a candidate should score minimum 45% marks in graduation (40% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) in order to fulfil the eligibility criteria for three-year LLB course offered by the law school. Candidates awaiting their graduation results are also eligible to apply.
Age criteria: A candidate should not be more than 22 years in age (for General category) and 24 years in age (for SC/ ST/ PwD category) as on July 1, 2017.
GITAM School of Law Admission & Application Process 2017
For GITAM School of Law admission registrations 2017, a candidate needs to follow the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Appear for CLAT/ LSAT
As already mentioned above, candidates seeking admission in LLB courses offered at GITAM School of Law first need to appear for CLAT/ LSAT 2017.
LSAT/ CLAT exam dates 2017 are not out yet. However, both exams are usually conducted in the month of May every year.
Note: Candidates not appearing for CLAT/ LSAT 2017 can follow GITAM School of Law admission process from Step 2 onwards.
Step 2: Fill GITAM School of Law application form
Candidates now need to apply for GITAM School of Law admissions 2017. For this, candidates need to fill GITAM School of Law application form in the offline mode. Candidates can download the application form from the official website of GITAM University. The application form once filled completely needs to be sent at the below-mentioned address:

Along with the GITAM University application form, candidates also need to send a demand draft (DD) of Rs 700 (for male candidates) and Rs 500 (for female candidates) issued in favour of Director, School of Law, GITAM University and payable at Visakhapatnam. The DD sent by candidates will be considered as GITAM School of Law application fee.

Details to be filled in the GITAM University application form include:
• Personal details: This includes name, date of birth, gender, category (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ Others), nationality, and religion of the candidate. Candidates also need to mention the name of their parent/ guardian.
• Address for correspondence
• Educational details: Here, candidates need to put details such as Class XII school name, year of passing Class XII, board name, maximum marks, marks obtained, and percentage scored.
• DD details: Here candidates need to mention the details of the DD drafted to pay GITAM University application fee. The details include DD number, DD date, DD amount, and issuing bank name.
Step 3: Appear for the personal interview round
After applying for GITAM School of Law admissions 2017, candidates need to appear for the personal interview round conducted by the university.
A point to note here is that candidates who have already appeared for LSAT/ CLAT 2017 are exempted from giving the personal interview for law course admissions at GITAM University.
Step 4: Appear for GITAM School of Law admission counselling
Finally, candidates need to attend the counselling session conducted by School of Law at GITAM University. In the GITAM School of Law counselling session, candidates will be allotted seats either according to their CLAT/ LSAT scores or performance in the personal interview round.
