BIMTECH MBA Admission Criteria 2026: Birla Institute of Management and Technology offers PGDM courses to fill more than 500 seats. BIMTECH MBA admission requires candidates to appear for any of the MBA entrance exams, among CAT, XAT, GMAT, CMAT, or MAT. Shortlisted candidates have to appear for PI and Extempore rounds.

Q:   What are MAT eligibility criteria?
A:

Since MAT is an entrance exam for post graduate level management courses, the minimum eligibility criteria for MAT exam is graduation. Candidate should have completed graduation in full-time or part-time mode in Arts, Commerce or Science from a recognised university. The eligibility criteria for MAT PBT, CBT and IBT are the same. Final year graduation students who will be giving their final exam or awaiting results are also eligible to appear in MAT. There is no minimum score requirement in MAT. Candidates need to have passing marks in graduation.

Q:   Do IIMs accept MAT score?
A:

No, IIMs do not accept MAT score for MBA Admission. They only accept CAT score for admission to their MBA/PGP programmes. However, MAT score is accepted by over 700 MBA colleges in India including: Amity University GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research Christ University GITAM Institute of Management JIMS Rohini Jain University Taxila Business School, Jaipur SRM University Birla Institute of Management Technology Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Tezpur University Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India IIFM Bhopal YMCA.

Q:   If I have a backlog can I still appear for GMAT?
A:

Yes, even if you have a backlog, you can still appear for GMAT exam. There is no rule which bars applicants to appear for GMAT exam with a backlog or without results in hand.

BIMTECH PGDM Seats 2026

Seats available across all PGDM courses offered by BIMTECH are as follows:

  • PGDM: 300 + 45
  • PGDM International Business: 60
  • PGDM Insurance Business Management: 60

Under the PGDM core program, BIMTECH has reserved 45 seats for PIO/Foreign Nationals/ SAARC Nationals/Gulf Quota/ OCI.

BIMTECH MBA Admission: Eligibility Criteria

The space below mentions the BIMTECH PGDM eligibility criteria 2026:

  • Qualifying Degree: Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university/institute, irrespective of the stream.
  • Qualifying Score: 50 per cent aggregate is required to be eligible for BIMTECH MBA admissions.
  • Work Experience: Candidates with relevant work experience for a minimum of one year will have an advantage over other candidates. However, having work experience is not mandatory to be eligible for BIMTECH MBA admission.
Weightage for work experience will be given to a candidate only if he/she had worked in an executive or supervisory role for a minimum period of one year as on January 31, 2026, in a registered company having a turnover of INR 10 crores or more in the preceding financial year that is 2024-25

Q:   When can I apply for CMAT?
A:

The next CMAT exam will be held in January 2026. NTA usually starts registration for CMAT in November every year. Those interested in appearing for the exam are required to register for it at CMAT-NTA website and fill the online application form. The score of CMAT will be valid for one year only, so if you appear for CMAT 2026, you must take admission in the same academic year.

Apart from 1300 B-schools, the CMAT score is also valid for admission through MAH CET CAP. The Maharashtra State CET Cell conducts MBA/MMS admissions for 300 colleges in the state. It is followed by a common counselling process called CAP. CMAT test takers can also participate in MAH MBA CET CAP and secure a seat in MBA/MMS course offered by over 300 colleges in Maharashtra.

Q:   Can I write MAT - CBT exam at my home or will they provide a center for this exam?
A:

For MAT CBT, candidates will be allotted a test centre in the city they shall have selected as preference in the, MAT application form. Candidates can appear for MAT from home in only IBT mode.  MAT CBT is held in the followimg cities: Agra, Ahmedabad, Asansol, Bareilly, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Ernakulam - Kochi, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hubballi (Hubli), Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Madurai, Meerut, Mumbai, Mysuru (Mysore), Nashik, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Shillong, Shimla, Silchar, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Vellore and Vijayawada

Q:   How many times can I retake GMAT exam?
A:

There are certain conditions laid down by the GMAC for retaking the GMAT:

  • Candidates can take the GMAT test only once in 16 days
  • Candidates are allowed to take up to 5 attempts in a period of 12 months
  • Candidates can take 8 attempts in a lifetime

In case if a student wants to reschedule or cancel his/her GMAT exam, he/she needs to pay a fee for the same. The fee for rescheduling the GMAT exam in the case of a test centre GMAT and the online GMAT are different. Similarly, the refund in the case of GMAT exam cancellation are different in the case of a test centre GMAT and the online GMAT. It is advised that the students prepare well for their GMAT exam in one go to avoid rescheduling, cancellation, or running out of attempts.
