Achieving short-term goals to pave way for long-term goals: Pallavi Bharti

I did my graduation in BBA from LPU, Jalandhar. The reason behind choosing it was that I always wanted to set up my own empire, my own business. This is also my biggest dream. Now, I am pursuing MBA from the same college.

In my class 12th, I chose Arts because I wanted to know about history, politics and society in detail.

I did my graduation in BBA. The reason behind choosing it was that I always wanted to set up my own empire, my own business. This is also my biggest dream. And the theoretical knowledge for all this comes from Commerce or business-related subjects. So, I chose BBA for graduation. Now, I am pursuing MBA from the same college because through MBA, I will get in-depth knowledge about business and that knowledge will help me in taking a good position in an organization and a high package.

The reasons behind choosing LPU are the following:

  1. Less fee as compared to other universities
  2. Wide networking and other opportunities
  3. Exposure at an international level
  4. Good infrastructure
  5. Good placements
  6. Alumni connect

I gave LPUNEST in 2015 for taking admission in LPU and got 60% marks in that. In this exam, analytical, English, and general awareness questions are asked. I had gone through the syllabus that LPU had provided.

Then, I gave LPUNEST exam again for MBA and got selected.

I did not take any classes or coaching for the preparation of LPUNEST because the questions or syllabus were from courses I had already studied. So, there was no need to put in any extra effort. One suggestion is- always try to cover the whole syllabus before giving or appearing for any exam.

Before LPU, I tried for Banasthali Vidyapeeth and got selected there too. But I always wanted to study in a co-ed college/ university. So I left it and took admission in LPU. The reason is when I would go in the corporate world, I would have to deal with both men and women. So I decided to start from the college itself.

I spend my time at the college doing the following activities-

  1. Doing assignments
  2. Extra activities like sports (playing badminton)
  3. Club activities
  4. Partying and having fun with friends
  5. Attending weekly discussions on current topics
  6. Studying

I like to attend the classes of practical topics of marketing, HR, etc. which involve brainstorming sessions, coming up of new ideas, and analyzation of the present scenario of the market.

I am currently a team leader of LPU Startup School, and also a coordinator of Finance Club.

All types of entrepreneurial events organized by LPU Startup School and Finance Club are related to MBA Club activities. The students develop their skills through them.

I often do volunteer or coordination activities in many events conducted by Division of Student Affairs, LPU.

There are many opportunities and chances given to me. Also, there is an open platform for students to come up with their ideas or things they want to change with valid reasons.

So, apart from all this, if I get a chance to work with head authorities, then I would convince them to call investors for investing in the ideas of students. I feel that in my college, the students have a lot of potential. They are innovative, talented, and have the ability to give solutions to problems.

As a person, I have changed a lot. I have learned the importance of ‘You Only Live Once.’ Sure, this saying can be applied to many different things, but I’ve chosen to look at it differently.

Taking into consideration the importance of risk-taking and the ways it promotes healthy growth and self-improvement, I was capable of turning some of the scariest ‘adventures’ into activities that I did not have to think twice about. Even the smallest lessons serve a great purpose eventually, and these will hold true and valuable for the years to come.

About the Author:

My name is Pallavi Bharti and I belong from a peaceful city in Bihar named as Nalanda. It is famous for one of the most ancient universities- Nalanda University. I have completed my graduation in Business Administration from Lovely Professional University, Punjab and I’m pursuing my master’s degree in Business Administration from the same university.

I have a huge list of short-term goals, so I’ve categorized them into 4 different parts for my own ease of completion. They are:

  1. Career goals- Some of my career goals are to increase my speed and accuracy, finish all my projects timely, have a good attitude, and keep my resume updated.
  2. Personal development goals- On the personal development front, I have to work on my communication skills, restructure my priorities, and learn how to do more things.
  3. Financial goals- As a student, I have some limitations with regard to money, so I have set up a weekly expenditure budget, cut off unnecessary spending, and am keeping track of all my transactions.
  4. My long-term goal is to be a financial adviser in an MNC and I’m sure my short-term goals will lead me to achieve it. Other than that, I have a crazy hobby of driving and travelling, so purchasing my favourite car and a world tour are in my list of long-term goals.

Other than that, I have other hobbies like driving, reading, blogging, watching movies, doing craft work, and camping. I’m interested in modern gadgets and technology, innovations, politics, and ancient history. I’m skilled in communication, teamwork, planning and scheduling, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership.

At Lovely Professional University, you can take admission in BTech CSE through their own test called LPUNEST or based on your 12th marks.

JEE is not compulsory, but if you have a good JEE score, it can help you get admission and scholarship.

For B.Sc. Agriculture at LPU, the basic requirement is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and the usual eligibility is around 60% in aggregate. With 58%, you are very close to the requirement, so eligibility can depend on the current admission cycle and official university criteria, which ma
