
The 50th Convocation of IIMB marks a significant milestone in the institute’s journey, showcasing its commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and fostering innovation. This year’s convocation will celebrate the success of the graduates and inspire future generations of leaders, thinkers, and changemakers.
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is set to celebrate its landmark 50th Convocation on March 28, 2025. The prestigious event will honor the institute’s graduating students from various programs, including the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and MBA courses.
Dr. S. Somanath, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Professor and former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), will be the Chief Guest at the convocation ceremony. Dr. Somanath, an eminent figure in the space sector, will deliver the Convocation Address and address the graduates and their families.
Degrees to be Awarded to Graduates Across Various Programs
Graduates from multiple programs will receive their degrees during the ceremony. The graduates include those from IIMB’s PhD program and various MBA programs such as:
- Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM)
- Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP)
- Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA)
- Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP)
Additionally, students of the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) will be awarded the Master of Management Studies (Public Policy) degree, while others will receive the Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management.
Institute Awards and Gold Medals
The event will also recognize excellence in academic achievement. One PhD scholar will be awarded the Institute Award for Excellence in Research. Additionally, gold medals will be presented for Best All Round Performance, First Rank, and Second Rank among the graduating students.
Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairperson of the Board of Governors at IIMB, will share his message during the ceremony. Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIMB, will highlight the institute’s major accomplishments and achievements over the years.
Dr. S. Somanath, a distinguished leader in the space sector, is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and IIT Madras. As the former Chairman of ISRO, Dr. Somanath played a pivotal role in shaping the Indian Space Policy and guiding ISRO's ambitious space exploration missions.
Under his leadership, ISRO achieved numerous milestones, including the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the moon's south pole. Other notable successes include the launch of Aditya-L1, XPoSat, INSAT-3DS, NVS-01, Oceansat, GSAT-24, and commercial PSLV and LVM3-OneWeb missions.
You should start preparing for CAT exam at least nine months in before the test date. CAT preparation requires long-term planning thus you must start early. The best time to start CAT preparation is in March. Starting early will also help you assess that whether you need to join a coaching institute or not.
Dr. Somanath was also instrumental in the development of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) and the Test Vehicle (TV), as well as in the successful landing experiments of the Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV-LEX). His contributions to India’s human spaceflight program, particularly the Gaganyaan mission, are noteworthy. Dr. Somanath was key in the development of the Space Vision 2047, which includes ambitious goals for space exploration, such as a human mission to the Moon and the development of the Bharatiya Antariksha Station.
