UPSC CAPF (AC) 2022 Last Minute Tips

UPSC CAPF 2022 exam will be conducted on August 7. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Central Armed Police Forces (AC) 2022 exam in offline mode only at the designated exam centres across the nation. UPSC CAPF 2022 notification was released on April 20 for 253 vacancies. It is expected that over four lakh candidates will appear in the exam.

UPSC CAPF exam is the direct entry to the post of Assistant Commandant in the CAPFs. The exam is conducted for the following CAPFs:

  • Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)

UPSC CAPF exam has two papers and the candidates need to prepare both the papers separately with a defined strategy. For preparing the General Ability and Intelligence, which is a multiple choice question paper, the candidates should prepare all the topics given in the CAPF (AC) syllabus in their entirety. UPSC CAPF paper is very similar to the IAS General Studies Paper 1, except the difficulty level of the questions asked.

Let us see the UPSC CAPF syllabus and exam pattern to better understand the paper structure and the demand from the candidates. The candidates must understand the UPSC CAPF (AC) exam pattern to score better in the exam.

UPSC CAPF Syllabus

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) mentions economy with Indian Polity in the General Ability and Intelligence syllabus which makes it different from the IAS Syllabus. It does not mention the Governance topics for the exam. Besides that, General Mental Ability is also added in the paper, which is also a variation from the Civil Service Exam.

UPSC CAPF (AC) 2022 Last Minute Tips

UPSC CAPF (AC) 2022 exam will be conducted on August 7. The candidates need to prepare all the topics given above. But for some last days, the candidates need to change their strategy and excel in their preparation to score better in the exam. Let us see some tips required to score better in the exam. UPSC CAPF preparation required a dedicated preparation of around one year with right strategy. Only three months study or six months preparation will not fulfill the dream of becoming an Assitant Commandant.

Revision

In the last twenty days, the candidates must increase the revision of the already studied preparation material. Studying new things at the last minute will not be fruitful for the candidates. It would be best to keep the existing knowledge and correlate it to answer the questions asked in the CAPF exam.

CAPF question papers are printed twenty to twenty-five days before the exam date. So very recent events are asked in the question paper. The candidates need to prepare the current affairs of the last one year so that they can answer as many questions as they can.

Time Management Practice

The candidates should practice time management tactics for the actual exam day. The CAPF General Ability paper has the General Mental Ability questions as well. So the candidates need to practice time management so that they can attempt a full paper.

Do not Waste time on one question

Since the time is limited to two hours only and the candidates need to answer 125 questions. So for each question, the candidate has a little over one minute. In this one minute, the candidate needs to read, understand, think about the answer, read all the answer options and mark it on the answer sheet. So the candidate should not waste the time on any of the questions which cannot be solved in the first go.

Instead, the candidates should solve the paper in rounds so that in the first round they should solve all the questions whose answer is known to them. In the second round, they should try to solve the questions where they are confused between one or two answer options.

In this way, they will be able to read and attempt the full question paper.

Negative Marking and Intelligent Guess

Intelligent guess means the use of background knowledge in eliminating the incorrect options with the help of inner feelings. All people have immense data and figures in their subconscious minds. After reading the question, the answer comes from the subconscious mind. The candidates can use intelligent guesses in the questions where they are confused between two answer options only. Eliminating the incorrect option by co-relating it with the existing knowledge can lead to the right answer. But it should be used sparsely where the candidate is confused between two options only.

Do Not Take Wild Guess

The candidates should abstain from taking wild guesses while answering the questions. If the candidates know nothing about the questions and answers, they should leave it. Taking a wild guess can end up in the reduction of marks of the candidates and consequently, they can run out of the competition.

Arrangements for the Day of the Exam

The candidates should prepare their travel plan for the examination centre. The candidates need to plan to reach the exam centres within the specified time. This can reduce the anxiety related to travel. The candidates can use this time for last-minute revision purposes.

Revision is the key to success in any UPSC exam. This is because the UPSC questions are tweaked to make them analytical and related to the practical aspect of the concept. The candidate is required to deduce the answer from the text given in the question. UPSC CAPF (AC) 2022 will not be an exception to this.
