UPSC conducted the IES main exam 2020 on October 18 across the nation simultaneously at the designated UPSC IES exam centres. The IES main exam was conducted in two sessions and most of the candidates found the IES main paper II lengthy for all the branches. The candidates said that the second paper was easy but lengthy compared to the previous year's question paper.

The IES main exam 2020 second paper was conducted in the second session starting from 2 PM to 5 PM. The candidates are expecting a low cut off this year because of the nature of paper I and paper II. Some candidates anticipate that the IES 2020 cutoff will remain the same as of the last year’s.

Most of the candidates found the second paper of the IES 2020 main exam easy and doable but lengthy. The candidates who practised with the previous year question papers were able to finish the paper but not with ease. The candidates were required to write quickly because the paper contained most of the questions from the theory part and the numerical asked in the compulsory questions were direct and doable. The candidates could answer most of the numerical asked in the IES main exam.
IES main exam 2020 expected cut off
IES main exam 2020 was conducted in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and lots of candidates left their exams because of corona fear. Though the UPSC exam centres have taken all the important precautions to stop the spread of coronavirus but the unavailability of public transport played its role in increasing the absent ratio.
The candidates are expecting approximately the same cut-off this year also because of two reasons.
The number of vacancies is less compared to the previous year and both the papers differ from the previous year. The IES 2020 main exam was a bit difficult as the paper I was conceptual and the second paper was lengthy. But the number of vacancies are less this year,` so the overall cut off for the IES 2020 exam will remain approximately same to the last year with the variation of five to ten marks on the higher side.
