B.E. in Marine Engineering - Batch of 2025

Good college for those who genuinely want to learn.
Placements: AMET University offers great placement opportunities as topmost companies of the world visit our campus for campus placements like M.Sc. Maersk, Fleet Management, K Line, Dynacom Tankers, etc. A lot of good companies such as CMA CGM and Pacific Eastern Shipping are showing interest in hiring the cadets of AMET University.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is decent for the number of students in the college. For all the courses such as BE Marine, B.Sc. Nautical, BBA ETO, GME, and many more, college accommodates very nicely and allows a healthy and clean environment for the students on the campus.
Faculty: The professors of the college are well-seasoned and experienced in their domain of maritime. With retired chief Engineers and captains as the professors, the students get experience from their knowledge, which is not confined to textbooks but includes actual real-life experiences.
Other: AMET University offers a great platform for maritime education and training, as the college promotes the overall well-being of students, not just academics.

The college has good infrastructure and knowledgeable faculty members.
Placements: About 75-90% of students got placed in my course. The highest package offered is around 6 LPA. The lowest salary package is around 2.5 LPA. The average salary package is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies include logistics firms and ports. Around 80% of students secured internships, with roles in companies like Maersk, V ships, Dynacom Tankers, etc. The top roles offered are fire fighting and trainee engine cadets.
Infrastructure: We have a Wi-Fi facility, labs, classrooms with smart board, and a library in our department. The hostel is also available but mess food will be good. We have a cafeteria too. The department offers decent classrooms, Wi-Fi, and a well-stocked library. Labs are functional. Hostel facilities are okay. Medical facilities are also available. There are some sports and games.
Faculty: Faculty members are not only knowledgeable but also truly supportive. They guide us on every step of the way. With modern facilities and hands-on training programs, AMET ensures we are fully prepared for a career in the merchant navy. I highly recommend this university to anyone passionate about a future in maritime engineering.

It is an average college, because of the bad hostel and infrastructure.
Placements: From a total of 240 cadets, 120 have been placed in various companies such as Maersk Line, OSM, and Thome Disnacom Tankers. Careers in the Merchant Navy are considered among the top-ranked professions; however, there are no fixed wages. Your salary depends on the type of ship and the company you work for, including well-known firms like Maersk, VShips, OSM, Thome, Stena, and M.Sc. Disnacom Tankers. Most individuals who are sponsored by their companies will complete their internships as engine cadets, focusing on engine maintenance of ships.
Infrastructure: The university offers various courses including B.Sc. in nautical science, B.E. in marine engineering, B.E. in mechanical engineering, B.E. in petroleum engineering, B.E. in food processing technology, and many others. Each course is associated with different academic departments. The campus has average classroom infrastructure, a 12-foot deep swimming pool, a working ship engine on campus with a ship, a 200-meter playground, and facilities for basketball, volleyball, and handball. Hostel accommodations vary, with rooms that can accommodate 2 to 6 students. The food provided is average— not very flavorful, but edible. The medical facilities are lacking, as students must go off-campus for consultations with doctors. However, the sports facilities are of good quality. Classrooms are bad. The food is average.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified chief engineers and captains with extensive experience at sea. The course curriculum is good and sufficient to prepare students for the industry. I recommend that it be updated to include new technologies. Exams are moderately difficult, with a passing percentage set at 45%.
Other: I like to work with big machines, so I chose this course. The hostel's infrastructure, food, and classroom infrastructure should be improved. Events are below average. The campus crowd is less, and scholarships are there, but they do not benefit anyone except girls.

Amet university review.
Placements: For now, only 20-25 cadets are placed in my batch of 240. Packages are decided by companies on passing the interview. Now, Maersk, V Group, etc., have picked up our cadets. Internships had to be done privately. The quality of leadership, discipline, and time management was taught to us.
Infrastructure: No AC, no ventilation, and a common bathroom for the floor. In the classroom, the professors will not come. Half of them do not know how to speak in English, only Tamil. The library is good. There, the AC is working, and books for any course are available. The food is unbearable, and it will not change for anyone.
Faculty: Exam time is taken seriously. Well-coordinated exams are taken. Faculty will not come. They will read from their books. One good thing is the questions will be provided before exams. Faculty members don't know how to speak in English, and one must know Tamil.

Things about AMET you should know before joining.
Placements: 60-65% of students get placed easily. After completion of the course, you will get a chance for 1 more year to sit for companies. The package is between 5-8 Lacs. Ships, Fleet Management, Dynacom, etc. For internships, they will provide you assistance, but you have to do it yourself.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available across the whole campus. You can access Wi-Fi. Labs are also available. As you go in different years, you will have to do different labs. The library is available with 100,000 books. The library is divided into 2 floors. Medical facilities are also available. The quality of food is satisfactory. Sports facilities are also available.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and experts in their subjects. The curriculum is according to the latest standards required in maritime. Yes, it makes students industry-ready. Examinations are of a moderate level. If you focus, you can easily pass the examinations.
