Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) is also known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). It is a public university and founded in 2000. The university is located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. AKTU has 800 affiliated colleges and institutes. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Lucknow offers various UG, PG, and PhD courses . Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has six constituent faculties/ institutions, including the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Architecture Lucknow, Centre for Advanced Studies, Faculty of Management Studies, Faculty of Pharmacy, and UP Institute of Design Noida. - AKTU was established on 26 July 2000 as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) through the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
- To ensure proper management and administrative ease, the university was divided into Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU), from 1 May 2010.
- In 2013, as the new government came into power, UPTU University, Lucknow was merged as a single university combining the two on 5 January 2013.
- In 2015, UPTU Lucknow was renamed Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).
- Currently, AKTU is in its newly inaugurated campus in Jankipuram, Lucknow. Additionally, AKTU Lucknow remains one of the largest technical universities with more than 700 affiliated colleges.

AKTU offers a full-time DPharm through City Group of College, which is a college affiliated to AKTU. The college offers a two-year Diploma in Pharmacy for candidates who have passed Class 12 in the stream of Science. Admission to the programme is granted based on the applicants' merit in Class 12, subject to fulfiment of the eligibility criteria and availability of seats. Master of Business Administration (MBA) at AKTU is a 2 years course at the PG level. The course offers admission to 60 students. The total tuition fee for AKTU Master of Business Administration (MBA) is INR 1.19 Lakh. To get admitted to AKTU Master of Business Administration (MBA) course, applicants must meet the entry requirements - 50% in graduation
Admission to the MBA programme is a 2-step process i.e. qualifying for the CUET PG exam and appearing in the counseling process conducted by the AKTU itself. However, candidates with CMAT entrance scores are also eligible to apply for the program.
Students must complete BE/BTech with 60% aggregate (54% for SC/ ST students) with a valid UPTAC rank. Those who have a valid GATE exam are also eligible for admission. However, such candidates first need to appear for the counselling session along with UPTAC rank.
DR. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University is expected to conduct a total of six rounds for CUET-UG-qualified candidates. However, the cutoff rounds are conducted as per seat availability. AKTU Infrastructure
AKTU is spread over 2,45,000 sq. km of land and offers various facilities to the students such as canteen, transportation, library, auditorium, seminar halls and various other infrastructure and facilities. AKTU also houses a library with e-Journals, e-lectures, online course materials, and other facilities. Apart from this, the university also has separate hostels for boys' and girls'.
How to Reach APJ University Lucknow?
The distance between Lucknow Charbagh Station to AKTU is 3 Km by road. However public trasport is also available from railway station like cab, auto, bus ect.. By metro, Munshipulia Metro Station is the nearest and from there take a cab/auto rickshaw which will cost around INR 150 (Approx Fare INR 30 on shared basis). The Alambagh bus station is located on the busy Lucknow-Kanpur Road and forms and integral part of an extensive multimodal transport system. Pre-paid three wheelers and taxi's are available from the bus station.
