My honest review of my college.
Placements: Placements in PSG are very good. The campus is visited by a variety of companies, from MNCs to local companies. The college first brings the MNC companies like Goldman Sachs, Intel, Amazon, Microsoft, eBay, etc. Then, the service-based companies like Cognizant, TCS, Wipro, etc., and the local companies are given a chance to recruit our students for those who wish to work in their hometown. During our final year, around 700 got placed in Cognizant, 60 in IBM, 28 in Wipro, 15 in Intel, 10 in eBay, and 8 in Amazon; all these are approximate values.
Infrastructure: The course curriculum provided in the college is on par with international standards. All the subjects are provided with an up-to-date curriculum review and are changed whenever a new and upcoming technology is dominating the market. Rooms are spacious; first-year students have to share the room, but from the second year onward, they are free to decide whether they want to continue or want a separate room. Rooms are plenty; there has never been any type of shortage. PGs' average rental at my time was 1200.
Faculty: The course curriculum provided in the college is on par with international standards. All the subjects provided are up-to-date, with a curriculum review changed whenever a new and upcoming technology is dominating the market. All the faculty in our college have at least 10+ years of experience and possess a wide knowledge in their field of expertise. They, along with other alumni, frame the course charter and curriculum to benefit the students.

M.Sc. in Electronic Media - Batch of 2025
Offered by College of Engineering, Anna University

My experience of M.Sc. electronic media at Anna University.
Placements: The average package is 7 LPA and the highest package is 36 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Cipla, TCS, Infosys, Siemens, Vodafone, Wipro, Flipkart, etc. Statistics show that around 90% of students are placed from this college.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of Anna University is good. University is well-managed for students. Labs are advanced. Library has more than 1 lakhs books and journals and full campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Hostel is clean and well-managed. Mess has separate vegetarian and nonvegetarian food. So this is a better option for students who are vegetarian.
Faculty: According to students the teaching is very good. Almost 90% of teachers are Ph.D. scholars. All teachers are very friendly and fully experienced. The mentors are very supportive and available all the time to help. Exams are not too much easy and not too much difficult, so students are passed quite easily.

Decent infrastructure, friendly faculty, but lacks placement support and practical exposure.
Placements: Honesty, placements in our Electronic Media department are disappointing. As a rank holder at Anna University, I've seen a few opportunities for our course. The college doesn't provide much guidance or support, leaving us to fend for ourselves. Other departments have a good placement record, but ours lags behind. It's frustrating because faculty and infrastructure are good, but lack of placement support is a major drawback. We rely on our own efforts to find internships and jobs, which is challenging. It's tough to see our potential go untapped due to a lack of support from the college.
Infrastructure: Our campus has decent facilities, but some areas need improvement. Wi-Fi is restricted to staff only, which is frustrating for students. Labs are well-equipped with plenty of computers. Sports are a priority, and the canteen food is affordable with many options like Actech, CEG Canteen, and Chrolophyll Cafe. Snack shops are also available. However, the library is small. Smart classrooms are available but sometimes malfunction. Despite this, the campus is lively with plenty of food options and sports activities. Hostel is pretty good with some facilities excelling while others need attention.
Faculty: The teaching staff in our Electronic Media department is friendly, qualified, and knowledgeable. They're easy to communicate with, and we've had a great experience with them. The teaching quality is good, but one downside is that it's more theoretical than practical. However, we've had opportunities to work on projects like short films, documentaries, and department events, which have helped us apply our skills. The course curriculum is relevant, but could be more industry-focused. Semester exams can be challenging, but the pass percentage is decent. Overall, the faculty's support and guidance have made our learning experience enjoyable and valuable.
Other: I chose this course because not just B.Sc. in Viscom graduates, but anyone with a graduation degree can take it. I chose being a media lover and was drawn to Anna University's brand reputation. The best things about my course are the opportunities to participate in big events like Kurukshetra and Gateway, where we volunteer, participate in games and competitions, and even win prizes. These experiences have helped me grow my network and skills. One thing that could be improved is more practical training and industry exposure. Overall, it's been a great experience with many opportunities for growth and learning.

Good facilities and teaching quality.
Placements: More than 80 percent of students got placed in our college. Companies like Ola, Tiger Analytics, Samsung, etc., visited our college with the highest package of 9 lakh per annum and the lowest of 3 lakh per annum. The top roles offered in our course are accountant, teacher, data science, etc.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure and facilities are good; they provide Wi-Fi facilities, a library, departments for each course with separate classrooms. Our college also provides a canteen where we can pay and eat, and the hostel is also good. The college conducts sports and events for every semester.
Faculty: The teachers are good at teaching, and they are very knowledgeable. Lecturers also guide us to read the books provided in the library. The semesters are difficult; we have to study well, and the passing marks are 36 in our college. The course is not curriculum relevant.

M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics - Batch of 2020

M.Sc. in applied mathematics was the best decision of my life from PSG.
Placements: 85 out of 100 students get placed on our campus each year and the salary offered to them is decent in terms of the ROI that any other college is offering in our country for the same course. The highest package was INR 10 lacs, the lowest was INR 6 lacs, and the average was INR 7 lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: The faculty help provide us with long-term practical knowledge and the teaching quality and knowledge imparted by them are the best in the country, let me tell you all that and the non-teaching staff are also very supportive. The food in the mess was good in the earlier days but not right now. The mess and the canteen serve us food that is extremely hygienic and there are also a variety of sports and games facilities.
Faculty: We have unit exams now and then and almost every week to keep us learning in a continuous process and at the same time, the final exams become easier when we give such regular exams on a daily and day-to-day basis and the college ensures good quality teaching through content delivered by the faculty members.

Our college needs to improve its infrastructure.
Placements: Around 80-90% of the students got placed. Web Developing and UI and UX design companies visit our college. Almost 100% of the students got internships, mostly in journalism. Students get roles in all forms of journalism, TV production, cinema and web development. Directors like PS Mithran and Actor Amitash are alumni of the department.
Infrastructure: Our college has video studios, audio studios and editing labs with proper internet connections. Equipment is a major problem due to a lack of funding. The only problem is we don't have books for this course, so we need to get the information in the form of notes or access the library or the internet.
Faculty: Teachers are highly knowledgeable in their respective fields and have real-time experience rather than teaching the theory. Papers are set in application-based questions. Papers are relevant and easy if the concept is understood.
Other: I have chosen this course to be on the video production side. The best thing about our course is the contacts we gain from here. Media is about references and contacts. Our college needs to improve on the infrastructure and the necessary equipment needed for the course.
