On Admissions
Q:   How can I take admission in Central University of Kashmir?
A:

Admission to Central University of Kashmir is offered on the basis of merit and CUET-UG/PG. Candidates appearing for UG level courses must secure a minimum aggregate in Class 12 to be eligible for further shortlisting process. Furthermore, candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in Class 12 and meet the cutoff in CUET UG for final admission.

Q:   What is the selection process for B Sc. and what is the minimum CUET marks required?
A:

The selection process and minimum CUET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test) marks required for admission to a B.Sc. program can vary depending on the specific university or institution you are applying to. CUET is a common entrance test conducted by some central universities in India for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Here are some general steps and factors involved in the selection process for B.Sc. programs:

  1. CUET Exam:

    • You need to appear for the CUET exam, which assesses your knowledge and aptitude for the chosen course.
    • The exam typically includes sections on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Knowledge, depending on the specific B.Sc. program.
  2. CUET Scores:

    • Your performance in the CUET exam will be a crucial factor in the selection process.
    • Different universities may have different cutoff scores for B.Sc. programs, and these cutoffs can vary each year based on factors such as the difficulty of the exam and the number of applicants.
  3. Eligibility Criteria:

    • You must meet the eligibility criteria set by the university, which may include minimum educational qualifications, age limits, and subject-specific requirements.
  4. Merit List:

    • Universities often prepare a merit list based on CUET scores and other relevant criteria.
    • Candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the CUET exam.
  5. Counseling/Interview:

    • Some universities may conduct counseling sessions or interviews as part of the selection process.
    • During these sessions, your academic background, achievements, and other factors may be considered.
  6. Final Selection:

    • The final selection is based on the combined performance in the CUET exam, counseling/interview, and other criteria set by the university.

The minimum CUET marks required can vary, and it is advisable to check the specific admission guidelines provided by the university or institution offering the B.Sc. program. Admission information is subject to change, so it's essential to refer to the latest official notifications or contact the admission office of the respective university for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) was introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in India for admission to undergraduate programs in central universities. However, specific details about the minimum CUET marks required for B.Sc. or any other program may vary from university to university, and the information may have changed since then.

To get accurate and up-to-date information about the selection process and minimum CUET marks required for B.Sc., I recommend checking the official website of the respective university where you are applying. University websites typically provide detailed admission guidelines, including information about entrance exams, eligibility criteria, and cutoff marks.

If the university has introduced CUET for admission, they will likely publish the relevant information on their official website or admission portal. Additionally, you may contact the university's admission office for specific queries related to the selection process and CUET cutoff marks for B.Sc. programs.

The selection process and minimum required marks for admission to a B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) program can vary depending on the university and country. Additionally, the mention of "CUET" suggests a possible reference to the admission test associated with a specific university or education system.

Here's a general overview of the typical selection process for B.Sc. programs and the factors that may influence admission:

  1. Educational Qualifications:

    • Candidates are generally required to have completed their secondary education (12th grade or equivalent) with a background in science, often with a focus on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics, depending on the chosen specialization.
  2. Admission Test (if applicable):

    • Some universities conduct entrance exams like CUET (Common University Entrance Test) as part of the selection process. The format and subjects covered in such exams can vary, and universities may set minimum qualifying marks for candidates.
  3. Merit-Based Selection:

    • In many cases, admission is based on the candidate's academic performance in their qualifying examinations, such as high school or equivalent. The university may consider the overall percentage or grades obtained in relevant subjects.
  4. Interview or Counseling:

    • Some universities may conduct interviews or counseling sessions to assess a candidate's suitability for the program. This could include discussions about the candidate's academic interests, career goals, and other relevant factors.
  5. Minimum CUET Marks:

    • The minimum CUET marks required for admission would be determined by the university offering the B.Sc. program. You would need to check the official website of the university or contact the admission office for the most accurate and up-to-date information
Q:   Can I join Central University of Kashmir BCom without entrance exam?
A:

Admission to BCom is offered on the basis of merit. Central University of Kashmir offers BCom as a 3 to 4 year UG level course. Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate in Class 12 for further shortlisting process. In addition to this, candidates must meet the cutoff rank or score in CUET UG to be shortlisted.

Moderately satisfied with this college.
Placements: Placement in this college is minimal to non-existent. In my two years here, I haven't observed any recruiting companies visiting our campus. Don't expect any placement support from this college. If that's a key expectation, then simply don't take admission here.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our college is normal, but our library does possess most of the books, from academic texts to top novels. The quality of food in the canteen is average, but it's cheaper as compared to the general market. There are many tournaments held annually, such as cricket and badminton.
Faculty: Most teachers are helpful and supportive. I would rate their teaching quality 7 out of 10. I believe our teaching methods can be improved drastically if they add more practical activities apart from theoretical instruction. The difficulty of the semester exams is moderate, and most students pass the exam. There are also four tests held every semester for eligibility in the final exam, while some subjects have just two tests.
Other: I believe this college has great potential and should focus more on practical application than just theory. This approach would better prepare students for the real world and allow them to understand subjects more deeply.

Excellent infrastructure, supportive faculty, and great placements.
Placements: In Our College (Islamia College of Science And Commerce), after completion of courses, they will give placements in some companies. In my course, 2-3 students were placed in a company, which is the greatest thing in our college. In other courses, they were placed in other companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in our college is very good. Our labs are maintained, and our college Wi-Fi is very good. Classrooms and the library are also good and well-maintained. The quality of the facilities in our hostel is extremely good, and the quality of food is the best that is available in the mess and also in the canteen. A medical facility is also available here. Sports and games are conducted every day by the Department of Physical Education.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, and they are qualified and extremely knowledgeable. Teaching quality is very good as per the students' needs. This course curriculum is relevant. It makes the students industry-ready. It's not so difficult to pass the semester exam. The passing percentage is almost 50% in each semester.
Other: I chose this course because my aim is to be a Network Engineer and a Cyber Security Analyst. There's nothing to change or improve about my course. Our college also mainly focuses on events, fests, connectivity, extracurricular activities, etc.
