Dibrugarh University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE), NCT, and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. The university has 177 affiliated institutes and colleges, spread across nine districts of Assam and 17 departments. However, candidates applying with Assam CEE scores must have the permanent residence certificate of Assam. Admission to majority of UG level courses require for candidates to secure a minimum aggregate in Class 12 and previous entrance examination. Whereas, for admission to PG level courses, candidates must secure a minimum aggregate in graduation. Apart from this, the University accepts valid scores of entrance exams such as JEE Main, DUEE, MAT, CAT, XAT, CMAT, GATE, NEET PG and others. 

Dibrugarh University provides admission with a minimum aggregate of 40%-60% in Class 12 for UG programmes along with the considered entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, AHSEC, CUET and others.
