UGC NET 2025 January 5 Exam Analysis: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the December session exam on January 5, 2026. It was conducted in two shifts. UGC NET 2025-26 January 5 History Exam Analysis

As per the student reactions, the history exam which was conducted in Shift 2 on january 5 was Moderate and Lengthy. More emphasis was on conceptual and source-based questions. Maximum questions were asked from Ancient, Medieval and Modern Indian History. Good attempts were 70-85.PYQ were asked with assertion and reason. In Modern and Ancient History Match the following was asked. Lengthy and descriptive oprions were there in the paper. High weightage on Indian History. World History was scoring.

Preparation should be in such a manner that you can revise at least 60 - 70% of the syllabus before the exam (as it is very difficult to read complete syllabus).

The UGC NET December session exam was over on January 7. As per the students' feedback UGC NET January 2 Paper 1 was Moderate some felt that Assertion & Reasoning part was a bit difficult. Paper 1 was lengthy.

Yes, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC NET exam twice in a year in two sessions namely June and December session. Candidates can give the exam unlimited times. The UGC NET June session 2026 exam date has not been announced yet. The exam will be conducted for a total duration of three hours or 180 minutes. The UGC NET exam will be conducted in a single session for both papers without any breaks. It will be conducted online.

Candidates must score good marks for clearing the UGC NET exam. For General Category the minimum qualifying mark is 40% and for reserved category it is 35%. In the June session 2025, the good score in History subject for the unreserved category was 162 for Asst. Professor and 180 for JRF.
