Gautam Buddha University honest review.
Placements: I am still in the middle of my course. I do not have exact placement states yet. I have seen from seniors placement in Biotechnology is rare as most of the students prefer higher studies or research internships. Big companies usually do not visit our campus and students themselves have to find the job offers through off campus placement drives and all. Some small labs and startups hire students with average packages of 3 to 4LPA. Typical roles include research assistant lab trainee project intern or junior analyst. Most students focus on gaining hands on experience rather than relying on campus placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for my department is decent. The labs are well equipped for basic experiments and most of the instruments work fine. Classrooms are spacious but the ACs barely work even when they are mentioned in the brochure. The library is nice and has a good range of books journals and research papers. In the hostel the facilities are okay. Each room has a Bed study table almirah and balcony. The mess food is average some days its good and some days its not even edible. The facilities are usable but can be maintained better.
Faculty: Most of teachers are helpful and genuinely try to explain things well. They are qualified and knowledgeable but some of them have a very theory heavy teaching method. They are pretty approachable and will clear your doubts quite nicely if you ask them personally. The course curriculum is mostly relevant and gives a strong base in the subject. It can include more practical exposure or industrial training to make students industry ready. The semester exams are not tough if you attend classes and revise regularly. The passing CGPA is 4.0 out of 10 every academic year.
Other: I chose this course I have always liked Biology and wanted to continue learning it after 12th without going into medicine. Biotechnology felt like the right mix of research and real world applications. The best thing about course is that it is interesting with workshops and practicals that make concepts easier to understand. I do wish there are more hands on experiences that make the learning useful. This campus is nice and has good connectivity since it is near highway. The UP Government does provide a scholarship for eligible students.
