The university faciliate placement support to the graduates. HBTU has not released course-wise placement report as of now. To get admission to HBTU for BTech specialisations, candidate must attain the neccessary rank in JEE Main. The last round closing ranks for JEE Main were between the range of 38255 and 89966, wherein B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering remaining the first choice among the students belonging to the General AI quota. For the OBC AI category candidates, the last round closing ranks varied between 65864 and 143891, wherein B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering has the most competitive rank.

HBTU Kanpur carries out MBA admission procedure in three phases. In the first phase, applicants with a valid CAT or CUET-PG scores are shortlisted and called for group discussion and personal interview (GD & PI) round. In the second phase, candidates with a score of CMAT/AIMA-MAT/CUET-PG are called for GD & PI. The NTA has released the exam dates for the JEE Main 2025 Session 2. Paper 1 (BE/BTech) will be administered on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, 2025. Paper 1 will be administered only in the second shift on April 8. The Session 2 registration is closed, and the last date to apply was February 25, 2025. The applicants are requested to download their city intimation slip, to be released in the third week of March, and admit cards, to be available three days prior to the exam date, from the website jeemain.nta.nic.in.

HBTU Kanpur may not offer direct admission to its BPharm course. The applications are evaluated based on academic records and performance in the CUET exam. It is also crucial that the applicants fulfil the course-specific eligibility requirements. The students who have passed Class 12 or equivalent with at least 55% aggregate can apply. The university admit candidates to its BBA programme based on merit in CUET-UG exam. After conclusion of application process, university releases a list of CUET shortlisted candidates. A final list is released after the fee deposition. Further, if seats are left vacant, then a list of candidates eligible for university entrance exam is released. Selected candidates need to appear for this exam. After this exam, selected Non-CUET candidates list is released along with a waiting list. 

Candidates with 100 rank can easily take ademission to MCA coure under OBC AI category quota. The required cutoff for MCA course through NIMCET for OBC quota stood at 109 for the candidates belonging to All India quota.
