Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University offers admission to candidates mainly based on CUET scores of the candidates. The university accepts CUET-UG for BTech, BA, BPharm, etc. and CUET-PG for most of the PG courses. Aspirants are allotted seat via CUET Counselling after the release of merit. Hence, direct admission is usually not offered at HNBGU.

The Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University is approved by the UGC and given a "A" grade by NAAC. HNBGU provides more than 700 undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and doctorate courses in 16 streams, 11 schools, 47 departments, and 2 centres (Agriculture and Allied Sciences, Commerce, Earth Science, Arts, Communication and Languages, and Law).

The median package provided during the HNBGU UG 4-year and PG 2-year placements in 2022 was INR 2.90 LPA and INR 5.20 LPA, respectively, according to the HNBGU overall NIRF report for 2023. In addition, during the Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University BPharm and MPharm placements 2022, the median compensation package was INR 1.8 LPA and INR 2.4 LPA, respectively.

A concise placements report for BTech-placed students of HNBGU is not available as of now. However, the NIRF report 2024 was released by the authority. As per the NIRF report 2024, 73 students were placed out of 248 total students in the UG four-year programme. The median package offered to the UG four-year students was INR 2.4 LPA. Out of the total batch, 47 students opted for higher studies. 

HNBGU Uttarakhand course admission is based on merit in the CUET exam for most of the programmes. Hence, the aspirants need to keep themselves updated with the CUET-UG dates and CUET-PG dates. HNBGU Uttarakhand has been released for admission to the medical courses. As per HNBGU Uttarakhand NEET cutoff 2024, the last-round closing rank was ranged between 323372 and 710638 for the General category candidates in All India quota.
