B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2029

The college has good placement records and a vibrant campus life.
Placements: The overall placement was 35 percent in 2024. The highest package is 34 LPA from a software/IT branch. The median package is 5.2 LPA for B.Tech. The average package is 4- 6 LPA for CS and ECE departments. The lowest package is 4 LPA. Recruitment is largely dominated by the IT sector. Although core electronics and design companies also visit. Top companies include TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, UST Global, Oracle, and Tata Elxsi. The college actively promotes and secures internships. Internship companies include Tata Elxsi, bTrizlabs, Accubits, and Infosys. Top roles include Software Engineer and Electronic Design Engineer.
Infrastructure: I am a day scholar. The ECE department is well-regarded for its laboratory facilities, with a focus on both core electronics and emerging fields. The college is equipped with a cutting-edge computer network and internet facility. There is a Central Computing Facility (CCF). Classrooms are generally well-maintained, and some are smart classes equipped with projectors. The Central Library is well-stocked, with a collection of over 30,000 books. A Digital Library is also available. The food in the canteen is cheap but not good. The overall campus area is relatively small, and the college lacks its own full-size grounds.
Faculty: Faculty, particularly in the ECE department, are highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated. Many holding degrees from reputed institutions like IITs and NITs. Faculty members are helpful. They are supportive, friendly, and approachable. The B.Tech curriculum is governed by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU). The course curriculum is considered relevant. The university exams are moderate to difficult. There are usually two series exams before the semester-end exam, and the average of these marks contributes to the final internal assessment. The pass percentage was around 75 percent in 2024.

SCT is for biotechnology people.
Placements: There are no placement opportunities for biotechnology engineering students. There are many placements for computer science students. Most of the students get placed every year.
Infrastructure: No hostel is present at this college. There are many paying guest facilities for the students. Many students rent homes instead of hostels. There is Wi-Fi on the campus that is authenticated by the staff. The college area is very limited. There is no ground or auditorium. Lab facility is good.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable in their respective domains. The teaching quality is good. Some teachers also provide notes. The course curriculum is relevant. It does make students industry-ready but ready for masters degree in the respective domains. Teaching staff is present. They are supportive and help students mentally.
Other: Good college with adequate facilities.

Average college experience with limited campus space and good faculty.
Placements: 90 percentage of students were placed from my department. The highest package offered was 10LPA and the lowest package was 4LPA. The average package received was 4LPA. Top recruiting companies were Tata Elxsi, Intel, etc. Top roles offered are electronics engineer, test engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: College provides various facilities like good labs, classrooms with smart boards, a central library, and a library for each department. Wi-Fi is also available in labs and the library. College hostel is not provided in our college, so we rent separate PGs which are recommended by the college. The food in the canteen is satisfactory, although it could be better. Sports and extracurricular activities are good in our college. A basketball court and shuttle court are present. Medical facilities are also provided.
Faculty: Our department faculty is helpful and qualified, with most of the faculty awarded doctorates. Our university (APJ Abdul Kalam University) is outdated and needs to be improved as it doesn't make a student industry-ready. We have to train ourselves in order to get better jobs and placements. The semester exam difficulty is medium and the pass percentage is 40 percent.

A good college with a good campus and has good value for money.
Placements: There are around 50% of students who got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is around 5 LPA - 6 LPA. I don't know the exact information about that. Tata Elxi is one of the top recruiting companies in our college. I have heard about internships and they are normal. Many students get internships in our batch.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our course is not bad. Our college is quite good at sports even if we lack a playground. But we are not happy about the lack of a playground. I don't know about hostels because I am a day scholar. I think it is average.
Faculty: Teachers are extremely good, qualified, and pretty good human beings. They are supportive if we are ready to put efforts into our studies. They are ready to clear our doubts if we ask. Our ECE department has top faculty members except 1 or 2. There are faculty members who are hill to be with.
Other: Campus life is actually a sad thing. There is a lot to study, so the campus life I got is not what I expected. The college campus is not very large but students get some hangout places there.

SCTCE: Facilities, courses, placements, and activities.
Placements: About 85% of the students get placed every year. The average salary package is estimated to be about 6 Lacs per annum. Top recruiting companies include TCS, Tata Elxsi, Wipro, etc. Many internship opportunities are provided to the students. The students have done internships in organizations like Indian Railways, Cochin Shipyard, Keltron, TCS, Wipro, etc.
Infrastructure: For the course I have selected, i. e. Electronics and Communication Engineering, the college has adequate infrastructure including well ventilated classrooms with Wi-Fi facility and course-related laboratories like signal processing lab, nano electronics lab, etc. Other quality infrastructure includes a well maintained mini canteen with proper hygiene. The quality of the canteen food is good. The medical facilities include the service of a general physician and a counsellor (a day in a week) for the mental well-being of the students.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members in the department are well qualified having Ph.D. and research papers in various disciplines. Although some faculty members are rude, most of them are very friendly and are always ready to help the students with their studies most of the time. The teaching quality is very good because of the proper use of facilities like laboratories and projectors. The faculty members conduct module tests once in one or two weeks which helps in better understanding of the syllabus. The course curriculum is relevant as it covers modern day applications related to the theory the students learn. Also the curriculum works hand in hand with the industry recruitments making the students industry ready. The semester exams are tough enough as the students have to have the concepts clear to pass the exams.
Other: I had many reasons to choose Electronics and Communication Engineering. As our country is growing rapidly in the sector of electronics, it is capable of becoming the semiconductor hub of the world in the next two decades, and so there would be a demand of highly professional electronics engineers. The other reason behind taking up this course is my interest in the field of electronics. The best thing about the course is that it combines theory with industry related technology which will helps us become industry ready. The two things that need to be improved in our college include the area of the campus and most importantly, it does not have a well spacious playground which is a negative point of the college. Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering has an annual campus fest called ‘Cult a way’ which is one of the largest campus events in Kerala. Extracurricular activities are the hallmark of SCTCE as it has the annual cultural fest (Cult a way), youth festival (Sargam Chithram Thalam), food fests (Kismath), sports meets (SPL, SBL) and events for literature and painting.

Small college but considerably good record of placement.
Placements: College is known for its placements, even though the college campus is small. I am still a student, but I know seniors who have got placements. There are many companies recruiting; among them are Tata, Tata Elxsi, Cognizant, etc. Students are also offered jobs through other events that the students participate in, like the automotive events.
Infrastructure: College lacks many facilities. There is no campus Wi-Fi till now but they are planning to. The college campus is very small considering other big institutions. College doesn't offer any hostel facilities, due to lack of space probably. There is a college library, very good to study.
Faculty: The faculty members are very good. All teachers are capable and experienced to answer any doubt of the students. The course curriculum is okay. The practical workshops and labs make it more effective and usable in real life. Like mechanical workshop, Chemistry lab, CAD lab, etc.
Other: College has a very good cultural fest called Cultaway, which is conducted once every year by the students' union and college. College and students are very proud of Cultaway. College is situated very near to Trivandrum town, so connectivity is good.

The campus life here is very good. The highest number of students placed here was in the year 2020.
Placements: 90 % of the students are placed in the college. The packages offered here is average of 5-6 Lacs per annum and the highest is about 15 Lacs per annum. The major recruiting companies are TATA elxsi, INFOSYS, TCS, SOTI etc. The percentage of students who got internship is about 40% of overall.
Infrastructure: The facilities here is very good. The labs are not that big but have all the facilities here. Here the college provide free Wi-Fi. The library is very big and contains most of books. The infrastructure of the college is little small compared to other colleges like IIT's and VIT's. The hostel for girls in under development inside the campus. Outside campus there are private hostels available near the campus.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and they have qualified in phds and M.Teach etc. They have vast variety of knowledge regarding their subjects. In the campus there is a placement unit which makes the student industry ready. The campus comes under KTU university and the semester are moderate to learn. The semester exams are moderate level and can pass easily.
Other: I chose this course because I like it and it provides a vast variety of knowledge regarding electronic items. TThe campus has many events and one of the best event is CULT-A-WAY which is the college cultural fest and ADVENT which is the college tech fest.
