NLU Assam LLM Eligibility & Highlights 2025
The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA), famously known as NLU Assam, offers a full-time LLM programme of one-year duration. The PG-level programme is six in three specialisations. NLUJAA LLM courses include an LLM in Environmental Law, an LLM in Intellectual Property Laws and an LLM in International Law.
NLU Assam LLM admission is based on the applicant's performance in CLAT, the entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. After appearing for the entrance exam, candidates must register for the CLAT counselling for seat allocation. Interested candidates must ensure that meet the following NLU Assam LLM eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must have passed a three-year or five-year integrated LLB degree examination from a UGC-recognised university, with a minimum aggregate of 55% (50% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD category)
- Candidates must have appeared for the CLAT
NLU Assam LLM Fees 2025
The fee structure of NLU Assam courses is cumulative of multiple components, such as tuition fees, admission fees, refundable deposits, etc. The total NLUJAA LLM fee is INR 2.12 lakh. The NLU Assam LLM tuition fee is INR 55,000. Additionally, selected students must pay an admission fee of INR 10,000 and a refundable deposit of INR 30,000 at admission. The official college website currently has not released any information regarding the placement of LLM. Details regarding the placements of BAs and LLBs are available in the NIRF report. The placement information for the 2023 graduating class is still pending in the official site. On its official website, the institute has, nevertheless, made available the NIRF report for 2023. NLU Assam LLM Admission Dates 2025

NLU Assam LLM admission 2024 is done through CLAT. For admission through CLAT candidates have to submit the application fee, other than the course fee. For General /OBC /PWD /PIO /OCI /NRI category candidates, the application fee is INR 4,000 and for SC /ST /BPL category candidates, the application fee is INR 3,500. Candidates who qualify for CLAT are required to pay fee for their respective courses, which includes various components such as Tuition Fee, Examination Fee, Security Deposit, Hostel Charges (if applicable), etc.
For admission to National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam LLM course, candidates have to register through CLAT portal. NLU Assam LLM Admission 2025: How to Apply?
NLU Assam LLM admission is a multi-step process. It starts with registering for the Common Law Admission test (CLAT). The exam is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs). Other steps included in the admission process are filling choices, merit listing, seat allotment, and fee payment. To apply for the exam, and thereby apply for LLM admission at NLU Assam, candidates can follow the steps given below:

For admission to one-year LLM at NLU Assam, the CLAT test will be conducted on Dec 3, 2023. Aspirants of NLU Assam are required to appear for the exam in offline pen-paper mode at the allotted test centres. Candidates can complete the CLAT registration 2024 until Nov 3, 2023 in online mode. 50% in LLB is the minimum requirement to enrol in NLU Assam's LLM programme. Candidates must have passed the LL.B. degree requirements or an equivalent test with the required scores from any accredited college or university. Applicants may also appear if they plan to take their qualifying exam in April or May of 2024.Admission to all programmes at National Law University Assam is handled online using the school's official website. Every year, the cut off marks for the NLUJAA LLM CLAT exam are affected due to the following factors:
- The difficulty level of the exam. In case the question paper is easy then the CLAT cut offs are expected to go high and vice-versa.
- Total number of applications received. If the total applications received are less then the cut off is expected to be relaxed.
- Total candidates qualifying CLAT exam. If the total number of qualifying candidates is less than the total seats then cut off goes low
- Total number of seats. If the total number of seats is revised and increased then cut off is expected to remain low
- Previous year cut offs. For the top NLUs, the cut-off marks in previous years were high, therefore, only topper candidates could make it for final admissions. Fore other NLUs, the cut off marks are relatively low.
