An university by the sea, with a good balance between learning and enjoying life.
Placements: I am still pursuing my dedicated course. Therefore, I will write about the students who have graduated from this course. The number of students who got placement in my course is just 10 percent of the strength. The highest package someone has ever received is 1.5 lakhs, and the lowest is 70 thousand rupees. The top recruiters are Oil India Limited, ONGC, etc. Seventy percent of the students secured internships.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for my course are pretty good. It has all the operable equipment needed for us to do practicals. Our department is spacious enough and has enough classrooms to accommodate all semester students. It is well-equipped with Wi-Fi, projectors, and smart boards.
Faculty: The professors are very helpful and highly educated and experienced. They have completed their PhDs from prestigious colleges in India and abroad. Apart from some differences in language accents, the teaching is good. The course curriculum is very relevant to the industry and job purposes. My course comes under applied sciences, focusing on its application in real life. Semester exams are decently hard according to my course's standard.
Other: I chose this course because I like the jobs it offers. I love fieldwork, and this course provides plenty of it. The best thing about this course is that we can enjoy learning by traveling from place to place. There are events happening frequently, and every major festival in India is celebrated. The campus has good public transport, with buses available to go to class.

A review on the integrated course (applied geology) in Pondicherry University.
Placements: Most of the students go for organisations like ONGC, GSI and MECL through the exams conducted by the respective organisations. A considerable percentage of students continue their academic career, i.e., they pursue PhD in premier research institutes like IITs, PRL, NGRI, NIO, and other research organisations under CSIR (council for scientific and industrial research).
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is quite good. Our department has very good labs and Wi-Fi facilities. Labs have various instruments which are quite difficult to find in other universities which facilitate research like XRD, TIMS, etc. Apart from this, the hostels are quite good. Food provided in the canteen is at affordable prices.
Faculty: The course curriculum is quite rigorous and provides in-depth knowledge and skills which are very necessary for a geologist. The course curriculum includes labs in every semester to help students to develop their practical skills with reference to the subject. In addition, there are 3 field trips in the whole 5 years integrated course to help students learn and develop the skills of exploration and mapping. The field trips provided to the students are good opportunities to see the geological structures and understand their formation. The faculty are extremely helpful and highly qualified, each of them has completed their PhD and post-doctorates in premier research institutes across India.
Other: The university campus is spread over 850 acres, which is quite spacious, and it's a perfect example of lush green campus.

The placements in this college are not good.
Placements: Do not expect placements in this college. We were neither placed nor have seen any of our seniors placed. Research is encouraged, and most of them prefer jobs in the public sector. This stream is not having great scope in private sector and hence cannot blame the department for it. It is a great place to crack public sector jobs on the campus itself.
Infrastructure: There is no doubt about the infrastructure. All the classrooms are enabled with ICT. Overhead projectors are great. All the department labs are well-equipped. There was no Wi-Fi facility when I was studying, don't know the current situation. It has a great collection of specimens in petrology as well as palaeontology labs. I never met a student in 5 years who complained about the campus. The hostel shortage had been a problem till 2015, and cannot comment on the current situation. The canteen situation is great.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are kind barring a few, the same goes for the domain of expertise. Few are one the best in the country in their area of interest. Field training is the best part for those who are interested in the practical aspects. The teaching is both conventional, and ICT enabled. The course curriculum is strictly designed for cracking few of the government jobs.
Other: The events are the best part of the university. The university always offers a platform to showcase your talent through it's umpteen events and fests.

The university is awesome, and it has a massively huge campus.
Placements: 20% of students got placed. The placement cell in the university was only for MBA and management students, not for other regular students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Almost every student got an opportunity for internships and others.
Infrastructure: The hostel and departments were good. The total infrastructure of the university was very big, and more than 10,000 students were studying there. For boys, there were 13 hostels, and for girls, 12 hostels. For Ph.D. students, 3 hostels and 3 messes were available.
Faculty: The course and curriculum were good. All teachers were highly qualified and very good. The university provided a good curriculum. Exams and questions were conducted by professors and faculty members only, so basically, the exams were moderately easy and not very hard.
Other: College life and the campus were very good.
