Yes, Thapar University offers merit-based scholarships to students of MCA courses. The scholarship will be awarded in the first year of the course in the second semester. The scholarship will be given to the 10% of admitted strength. Thapar University MCA scholarship will be given on the basis of performance (CGPA obtained) in the first semester of the course. To get the BTech Merit Scholarship-I at Thapar University, applicants must complete their Class 12 and must have scored more than 95%. Additionally, the applicant must be among the top 50 students based on their All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2024, regardless of her/ his engineering branch.
For continuation of the scholarship in the second year, applicants must have a minimum of 8.50 CGPA in all previous semesters. In BTech Merit Scholarship-I, students get a total fee waiver.

Although admission to BE/ BTech programme at TIET is conducted through JEE Main. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology accepts JEE Main scores as well as merit for admisison to the BE/ BTech courses. Based on the JEE Main score and Class 12 scores, candidates are then called for the TIET Counselling process. Admissions for vacant seats (if any) in subsequent rounds of counselling is done based on All India rank (AIR) of JEE Main 2023 as a tie breaker.
