I am satisfied with the college. It has a good college life. We can come here for fun, not to study.
Placements: Around 50-60% of mechatronics students from the 2024 batch secured placements. Companies like Varroc Group, Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Deloitte Consulting India, Anand Automotive, Orient Electric, and TCS visit the college for placements. The highest package is 11.5 LPA, and the lowest package is 7.5 LPA. The average package is 9 LPA. Job roles offered are design engineer, automation specialist, robotics engineer, consultant, and related roles. Around 70% of students secured internships at Amazon, IBM, and Deloitte. The rest of the students joined startups.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided are good. Every type of instrument needed to learn is available. Wi-Fi is 24x7 available everywhere with good speed. The infrastructure is old like 90's but the infrastructure of the computer department is very good. The library has very good infrastructure. All types of books are there and has a capacity of around 1,000 students. Here we have Sodexo mess which is good but sometimes the food is difficult to eat. In mess provides the best food when it comes to paid canteens which are open in the evening and at night. Medical facilities are good and they have their own dispensary.
Faculty: Many of the professors are not good. They just come to read slides and detain students on the basis of attendance. Teachers with good teaching skills are not bothered with attendance. The course curriculum is good and helpful in covering all the topics that are relevant to placements. The toughness of the exams is moderate. We easily score with only 2 days of study. The pass percentage is 35%.
Other: I chose this course because this course is a combination of electronics, mechanical, and computers, which helped me to explore my interests. In the odd semester, there are many fests like Saturnalia. The campus crowd is very good. It has a very good campus life. All sports facilities are provided. We will not get bored on this campus.

Review of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: Placements are good in our college. The average salary package offered ranges from 7 LPA to 8 LPA. The highest salary package offered was 25 LPA. Many mechanical companies come here. The placement cell offers opportunities to attend other branch placements as well. Many internships are offered at startups and highly reputed companies. Students always try to grab the best opportunities in this course.
Infrastructure: Hostels are of a premium level at our college. Air-conditioned rooms are available.
Faculty: The teaching quality is average. Practical subjects are also inculcated in this course to make students ready for the industry. The pass percentage is high, but subjects are not easy. Semester exams are also easy to score. Their teaching method makes it easy to grab jobs. This course is a mixture of mechanical, electronics, and computer science. All these are taught to build up the concepts, and it is intensively focused on robotics at the end.

The college provided great placements in 2021.
Placements: Thapar University is one of the best universities in terms of placements as it falls under a tier of a private university. There are many companies that just got the hands of the students of Thapar University in their campus drives in 2021. It is a wholesome moment for an engineering student to get placed. Above 90% of students are placed.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is amazing and beautiful. Hostels are the best I've ever seen anywhere else in the country. Labs, classrooms, and every building are structured with a very great aesthetic. Central Nava Nalanda Library is a huge treasure of knowledge and has amazing infrastructure as well.
Faculty: Mid-semester exams can be a little tough in our college. But at the end, there can be a higher chance of scoring as end semesters are not that difficult with the syllabus covered. The curriculum is very well structured with great electives, subjects, and a great mixture of different department subjects.
Other: Students are from every corner of the country. A great crowd with more than 50 societies. Many events are organised throughout the semester. Academic and cultural activities happen on campus. Every type of community is available for a great learning experience.

One of the few private colleges worth going to.
Placements: In the 2021 batch, there were 60 students in the mechatronics branch, out of which 52 sat in placements and others opted for higher education. The placement percentage was 90% for the 2021 batch. The highest package was 15 l. p. a which was given by Addverb Technologies and the role offered was of Robotics Engineer. Moreover, the companies like Whirlpool, Tetra Pak and Trident come only for the Mechatronics branch. Around 50% of the mechanical core companies like Maruti, Hero, Daimler and Tata Motors also hire from the Mechatronics branch. The average package was around 6.5-7.5 l. p. a with packages going as low as 4 l. p. a. For internships, companies like Trident, CNH Industrial, Escorts, Maruti, IGSEC and many more hire from Mechatronics Branch. Also, students get a chance to work as project interns in reputed institutes like IIT Bombay, IISc, IIT Delhi etc. PSUs like DRDO, ISRO also offer internships. The highest stipend given to internships offered in 2022 was 50,000 per month which converts into a pre-placement offer of 14 l. p. a from Trident. Roles like Graduate Engineer Trainee, Robotics Engineer, Automation Engineer were offered.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure present at Thapar University is considered quite good. There is a separate section for every branch where all the labs and workshops are situated. The classrooms like the LT lecture halls which are newly built are considered state of the art. As the mechatronics branch is relatively new, so there is only one separate lab for the mechatronics branch, which is used for robotics-related projects and development. Other than that, mechatronics is an amalgamation of mechanical, electrical, electronics and computers, and all these branches have numerous labs in our course, we have covered almost all the major aspects of these branches and are required to use these labs for practical purposes. Hostels are very well made when we compare them with other engineering colleges in India. There is facility of Wi-Fi, AC, sports facilities include a full fledged gym and table tennis room in each hostel. There is also a common room which includes a TV in some hostels. There is a 24*7 dispensary available in the college and there is a separate football ground, cricket ground, table tennis room, volleyball court, basketball court, badminton court, tennis court and a hockey ground. There is also a state of the art jogging ground and a sprinting track.
Faculty: Almost all the teachers in Thapar have done their PhD's from various IITs which shows the quality of teachers here. The quality of teaching was not excellent but it can be considered well above average. The course of the mechatronics engineering branch was revamped in 2019 to include industry-relevant topics and to keep it up to date with the latest technologies. Yes, the students are industry-ready. The semester exams are somewhat difficult but can be passed with high numbers if the student has prepared well. The pass percentage is around 90% but only a few get a good scores, others just barely pass with the minimum required percentage.
Other: The scholarship is awarded on the basis of the merit list of each year prepared on the basis of CGPA of each year. The amount of scholarship given is around 13 crore.

There are good campus life and decent placements in 2021.
Placements: Placements in 2021 were great, but due to Covid, very few companies visited here from usual. However, they were more than we expected. All of us were not able to get placements, but a decent number of students got placed or around 60% of students. Placements are good only in CS/IT and marketing. Else it is very difficult to get other placements.
Infrastructure: Hostels are good here, and the speed of Wi-Fi is good. But some rooms are at dead zones and wouldn't get Wi-Fi speed there. The classrooms for CS are good, but for mechanical, civil and electrical, there are old classrooms, which are non-air-conditioned and do not have good projectors and screens. Rest the college is renovating a lot, so I don't know what will be provided within 1 year.
Faculty: The curriculum is somewhat not well researched. I am from the mechatronics branch. The course structure is designed very vaguely and illogically, but some changes are being made. I think in 3-4 years, there will be a good syllabus and a well-researched course structure.

It is the best college for studying with fun.
Placements: Placements depend on how skilled you are. If you have learned a lot about computers, then you can get placed as COE, and you can do a lot of courses simultaneously. Almost 84% of the students got placed. The highest salary package offered is 40 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is, I think, 3-4 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 6-7 LPA. Top recruiting companies of our college are Microsoft, Samsung, Tata, etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel is better than I expected. Our college has the biggest library, which is 4 floors high and is available to use 24x7. It has Wi-Fi all over, and there is also a canteen. Classrooms are almost smart and have good infrastructure. There is also a medical room, a sports room and playgrounds.
Faculty: We have a lot of practicals, so the course is relevant. Teachers are very helpful, and they help you to understand everything. They also take extra classes whenever you ask, and they also take practicals.
Other: There are a lot of events, including north India's biggest techno-cultural event.

Declining but still one of the best.
Placements: Thapar Institute is one of the best private college after BITS or DAIICT in terms of placement. With an average placement of above 7 Lacs, it is one of the best colleges in N. India. If you are from COE or ENC, don't worry about placement. Mechanical is also good in terms of placement with an average between 6 and 7 Lacs. Average of Mechatronics is about 6 Lacs. Around 80% of companies coming for mechanical recruit from Mechatronics. Companies like whirlpool recruit only from Mechatronics.
Infrastructure: Newly built lecture halls are huge and well built. There is unlimited Wi-Fi for students of Thapar. There are many sport facilities present in the campus. There's a shopping complex present in the campus. Hostels are great too. Infrastructure is something you should not worry about if coming to TIET.
Faculty: Faculty is good, could be better. Most of the teachers really show a lot of interest. The curriculum is old but they are changing it. Their partnership with Trinity College Dublin has changed the curriculum a lot. Anyhow, what you study in the classroom is not that important but what you learn in your free time is what that matters.
Other: If you are not getting IITs, Top 6-7 NITs, Top IIITs, PEC, DAIICT, then Thapar is your best bet if money is not an issue. COE in Thapar is anyday better than civil or lower branches in the above said colleges. The fees of the college is the only negative point. If you are worried about the high intake, just maintain a good CGPA to stand out among the crowd. Anything above 7.5 is good. TIET, Patiala is anyday better than VIT, SRM, Manipal, LNMIIT or other lower colleges.

They should remove a rule which doesn't allow students to attend interviews for more than a company.
Placements: Almost 75% of the students from our course got placed. In mechatronics course, the highest salary package offered is 13 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA and the average salary package offered is 6 LPA. Top mechanical companies are Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors. The top role offered to the students is placement representative (PR). Almost 90% of the students got an internship in companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are great in Thapar. It has labs, Wi-Fi and a library. Classrooms have a huge capacity of students with projector and mic facilities for teachers. Facilities and food in some hostels are good, but Sodexo doesn't provide good food.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. There are also good quality teachers who help students whenever they need. The course curriculum is relevant to mechatronics. It has mechanical as well as electronic subjects. Subjects like artificial intelligence make it relevant.
Other: It is an amalgamation of mechanical and electronic branches. You can also learn about sensors and electrical machines. The reason I have chosen this course is it helps to gain knowledge of both branches, and you can apply for companies who visit to recruit mechanical and electronics students. Our college should allow students to apply to every company who came for mechanical and electronic students. They should have convinced them to hire students from mechatronics as well. It will help to get 100% placement of students of this course. Each student can only apply to another company if the course placement is more than 75%. Thapar University should allow each student to at least apply for 2 companies. Events, fests, campus crowd, connectivity, cafeteria and all the things are great at Thapar University.
