Start with Basics for GAT 2026 Preparation

To start with GITAM preparation, candidates should get their basics strong. For this, you can check the following tips:

  • Understanding the basics of each topic is important to get better marks in GAT 2026.
  • If you know the concepts clearly, you can solve any question.
  • Make sure to follow NCERT for preparation as it has good explanantion of the concepts and basics.
  • However, if the basics are not clear, then no matter how much effort one puts in, the result will always be theoretical and not meaningful.

Q:   What is the GITAM GAT marking scheme?

In GITAM GAT, each correct answer will be awarded 1 or 2 marks. There is no negative marking. Each question has four options, of which one is correct.

Q:   Will the GAT question paper have descriptive type questions?
A: 

No, all the questions in the GAT question paper will be objective-type questions and will be in MCQ format. Candidates will be given four options for each question. Candidates will have to select the correct option for each question. GAT question paper will consist of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. Each question will be for one mark. There will be a negative marking for any wrong answers. Candidates will have to attempt the 200 questions in 60 minutes. There will be no sectional time limit to attempt the GAT exam sections. GAT 2026 exam will be held multiple times in a year in computer-based mode across 27 cities in India.

An essential part of preparation is to practice with GITAM GAT sample papers and question papers. It is imperative to practice as many sample papers as you can to know the weightage of topics from each subject, and also you will be able to find out your weak areas and put the focus on them for improvement. You also get to know the GITAM GAT exam pattern.

Keep short notes & revise wisely

While preparing for the exam, make short notes regularly. This will be helpful at the time of revision. Aspirants can write short forms, formulas or abbreviations so that they need not go through the entire syllabus again. The short notes should be crisp and in bulleted points as topics prepared in such a manner will be easier to notice and therefore convenient during revision. After completing each topic from the syllabus of GITAM GAT 2026, candidates are advised to keep at least one month or two for revision. However, do not spend much time on it as it might impact your preparation. Revision at this stage should be quick, and try to cover the syllabus by covering each chapter. Avoid Last Minute Preparation for GITAM GAT 2026 Exam

In the last lap of preparation, avoid taking any new topics from any subject. This will create chaos and further confusion. Rather, it is advised to dedicate the time to revise the units, topics and what you have already studied so far. In the last week before GITAM GAT 2026, candidates should be determined and very subjective in terms of the syllabus to be revised. GITAM Aptitude Test (GAT) is conducted by GITAM Deemed to be University for admission to various UG and PG programmes. The examination is held in computer based mode, wherein candidates will have to report at the designated exam centre.
