It is not compulsory to attempt all the question in MHT CET exam. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which they know the correct answer. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left. However, as there is NO negative marking in MHT CET exam, questions for which answer is doubtful can be attempted in last. MHT CET paper do not have negative marking for incorrect answer. In MHT CET exam, Physics and Chemistry question is of 1 marks. No marks are deducted for unattempted questions. For any question, if none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or dropped, then full marks will be awarded to all candidates irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.
Question papers will be visible in English, Urdu and Marathi. Candidates can switch the language of the question paper between languages. They can select any language but cannot switch chosen language during exam.
MHT CET Exam Pattern 2026
MHT CET 2026 exam pattern is announced by the exam conducting authority.
- Section1: Mathematics
- Section 2: Physics and Chemistry
For PCB group, the section 1 will be Biology and Section 2 will be Physics and Chemistry.
Each of the three sections is of 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes). Although there is no negative marking in MHT CET, difficulty level of the exam would be at par with JEE Main and NEET UG for PCM and PCB respectively. The questions will typically be application-based.

In general, the MHT CET syllabus can be completed in 6 months. The time required will however vary for every student. If student start preparing for MHT CET in class 12, they can easily cover the entire syllabus for MHT CET along with the school home-work by giving special emphasis to topics that are part of MHT CET syllabus.
The syllabus of MHT CET is not same as JEE Main. As per the information available in MHT CET official website, only a few topics of class 11 are part of the MHT CET syllabus. However, all class 12 topics are covered in MHT CET syllabus. The difficulty level of MHT CET is similar to JEE Mains. Students preparing for any of these exams can download the syllabus from the Shiksha page.
The syllabus of MHT CET is not similar to the Maharashtra Board class 11 and 12. Only a few chapters of Class 11 are covered in MHT CET syllabus. However, the entire class 12 syllabus is part of MHT CET syllabus. Also, the dificulty level of MHT CET is similar to JEE Mains.
The syllabus for MHT CET PCM (BE/BTech) and PCB (BPharma) is different. MHT CET PCM exam is conducted for admission to BE/BTech while the PCB examis conducted for BPharma courses.
