The university was started as a technology-focused university that later expanded its academic branches to other disciplines such as Management, Social Sciences and Media Sciences. MAKAUT offers numerous courses and they are categorised under its various departments, running under schools of multiple disciplines.

  • B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology): This course in MAKAUT is offered under the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and the Department of Information Technology, which comes under the School of Computer Science & Engineering and the School of Information Science & Technology, respectively. Eligibility criteria: Candidates are eligible on the basis of their merit rank in Engineering ‘General Merit Rank’ (GMR) in WBJEE. It is mandatory for the candidates to be 17 years of age or older.

The B.Sc in MAKAUT is composed of departments like the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of BioInformatics, the Department of Life Science, etc. The programme is specially designed to develop scientific knowledge and analytical skills in the candidates. The course comes with multiple specialisation options that give the students a wide range of opportunities.

Eligibility criteria:  Candidates have to apply through ‘Common Entrance Test’ (CET). S/he must pass/appear in the Higher Secondary Examination under the General or Vocational Stream through the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination/undergraduate programme as prescribed by a recognised board/university. Successful candidates, once admitted to an affiliated college or to the university, may have to take special prerequisite bridge courses, as decided by the university.

Additionally, for undergraduate programmes candidates need to pass Class 12 with a minimum of 45% aggregate.

The specialisations offered by MAKAUT for M.Tech course include Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Power Systems, Structural Engineering, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Data Science, Internet of Things, Computer Science and Engineering, Internet Of Things, Data Science, Renewable Energy, Industrial Engineering and Management, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, etc. Moreover, the MAKAUT M.Tech programme is a two-year full-time programme. The admission to the programme is based on the candidates performance in the PGET or GATE exam, followed by a Personal Interview.

  • BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration): The course for BBA in MAKAUT is taught under three departments that comes under the School of Management Sciences. The three departments are, namely, the Department of Undergraduate Business

Studies, the Department of Hospital Administration & Management, and the Department of Hospitality & Hotel Administration. The course is designed to develop managerial skills and knowledge and to turn ordinary students into brilliant management professionals.

Eligibility Criteria: Students must have passed the qualifying examination, i.e., the ‘10+2’ examinations, with an aggregate score of 50% in any stream. The student should pass the Common Entrance Test (CET). Eligibility will be assessed on the basis of merit list ranking.

Some of the departments are the Department of Applied Chemistry, the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of Food Science, the Department of Applied Economics etc. The course is an advanced-level programme that sets the students on a track to gather a greater amount of knowledge along with some research skills.

 Eligibility Criteria: Candidates have to apply through the ‘Common Entrance Test’ (CET).

Honours/Major or with a minimum of 140 credit points in Mathematics/Information

Technology/Computer Science/Physics/Statistics or allied subjects. Graduates of

Engineering/Technology are also eligible. Admission will be through the Common Entrance Test (CET) of MAKAUT following the merit list of qualified candidates. The proposed intake is 30, which may be upgraded to 60 subsequently on demand.
