UPES Introduces New Future-Focused Engineering Specialisations

July 8, 2021: University of Petroleum and Energy Studies [UPES], a NAAC ‘A’ grade accredited multidisciplinary university has introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programs in its school of Engineering and School of Computer Science from the academic session 2021. The new programs offer specializations in advanced and future-focused technologies with a mix of various minor electives.

July 8, 2021: University of Petroleum and Energy Studies [UPES], a NAAC ‘A’ grade accredited multidisciplinary university has introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programs in its school of Engineering and School of Computer Science from the academic session 2021. The new programnes offer specialisations in advanced and future-focused technologies with a mix of various minor electives.  The university has implemented these programs to equip students with the right skills and expertise, making them more confident and ready for industry 4.0. 

New specialisations and integrated programs by the School of Engineering

UPES School of Engineering has introduced two new UG programs- BTech in Advance Materials & Nano Technology with two specialisations in Smart Material and Computational Material Science and BTech in Renewable & Sustainable Energy Engineering with two specialisations in Energy Storage Systems and Waste to Energy. Along with the core subjects and specialisation, students from both these programmes can opt for minor electives in AI& ML, Blockchain, Bio-mimetics, Space Engineering, Astronomy & Astrophysics, Reclaim engineering, Data Science to name a few.

School of Engineering has also introduced integrated four-year BSc-MSc programmes. The integrated BSc-MSc Chemistry programme has specialisations in Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. BSc-MSc Physics programme offers specialisations in Material Science and Electronics. BSc-MSc Mathematics has specialisations in Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics.

Commenting on the launch of the new programmes, Prof. Gurvinder Virk, Dean, School of Engineering says, “The BTech (Advanced Materials & Nano technology) course has been formulated to meet the challenging global demand in designing and producing better materials with multifunctional and smart features such as sensing, actuation etc for manufacturing modern products and BTech (Renewable and Sustainable Energy Engineering) course has been developed in line with the growing importance of energy in our lives and its huge relevance to global sustainable issues as countries contend with the increasingly devastating impacts of climate change. In view of the expansions in these novel technological areas and help meet the industrial need, UPES is offering specialisations in these two programs to equip students with the knowledge to develop solutions for real-world problems.

New specialisations by the School of Computer Science

UPES School of Computer Science has launched Master of Computer Application (MCA), a two-year PG programme offering four specialisations for a student to choose from – MCA- Internet of Things, MCA- Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, MCA- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and MCA-Cyber Security and Forensics. Along with teaching students’ essential concepts such as data structures, algorithms, OOPS concepts using Java and python, software engineering etc, the program will also teach students concepts of data science, informatics, robotics, banking analytics, law practices and procedures and more.

UPES is a multi-disciplinary university and offers specialized undergraduate and post-graduate programs through its seven schools- School of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Design, School of Law, School of Business, School of Health Sciences, and School of Modern Media.

Yes, candidates undergo internships during the MBA curriculum of UPES Dehradun. Candidates are only required to complete one internship for MBA between the second and third semester of the curriculum.

Yes, UPES Dehradun MBA admissions are open for the academic year 2026. Candidates who have already appeared in national or state level entrance exam can apply by going to the website of the institute.

No, candidates cannot get direct admissions in the UPES Dehradun MBA courses. Admissions to all BBA courses are based on entrance exam scores either obtained in UPESMET or national/state level MBA exams.

Unlike other courses, there is no mention of a possibility to secure direct admission into the MB
