UPES introduces new Integrated Health Science programmes

From the academic session 2021, UPES, an NAAC ‘A' rated multidisciplinary institution, will offer new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in its School of Health Sciences. Students will be able to choose from a variety of minor electives as part of the new programmes, which will include integrated modules with specialisations.

July 8, 2021: From the academic session 2021, UPES, an NAAC ‘A' rated multidisciplinary institution, will offer new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in its School of Health Sciences. Students will be able to choose from a variety of minor electives as part of the new programmes, which will include integrated modules with specialisations. Because there has been an increase in the demand for trained healthcare workers, these programmes are designed with industry demands in mind and to provide students with the necessary skill sets to make them readily employable.

New and Integrated BSc and MSc Programmes

UPES School of Health Sciences has launched three new integrated undergraduate BSc-MSc programmes which are of four year duration and on successful completion, students will be given an integrated BSc-MSc degree.

  1. Integrated BSc-MSc (Clinical Research) with specialisations in Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Regulatory Affairs
  2. Integrated BSc-MSc (Nutrition & Dietetics) with specialisations in Dietetics and Holistic Wellness and Nutraceutical and Nutritional Policy
  3. Integrated BSc-MSc (Microbiology) with specialisations in Food and Environmental Microbiology and Medical and Pharmaceutical Microbiology
  4. A two-year post-graduate programme- MSc (Pharmacology and Toxicology) with two specialisations, Applied Clinical Pharmacology and Molecular and Biochemical Toxicology.

New Integrated BTech - MBA programmes

UPES School of Health Sciences has introduced integrated five-year BTech - MBA programmes. Unlike the typical BTech + MBA programmes which usually takes six years, these programmes are for five years saving students one year. Under these courses students will be receiving two specialisations, one in the BTech programme and other in the MBA programme.

  1. BTech - MBA (Food Technology) with specialisation in Food Plant Engineering or Food Biotechnology under Food Technology electives and specialisation in Product Management or Marketing under management electives.
  2. BTech - MBA (Biotechnology) with specialisation in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Biosimilars or Plant Biotechnology under Biotechnology electives and specialisation in Biotechnology Product Management or Biotechnology Marketing under management electives.
  3. Apart from the integrated programs, a new BTech. (Biotechnology) a four-year degree programme has been launched with specialisation in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Biosimilars or Plant Biotechnology.

Along with the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the School has also introduced PhD programmes in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Microbiology, and Food and Nutrition Sciences.

Dr Neeraj Mahindroo, Dean, School of Health Sciences commented on the benefits of these courses and said,” The new programs are built on an interdisciplinary approach with the purpose of providing our students with well-rounded education offering them multiple specialisations and the opportunity to explore subjects from other disciplines at UPES like design, business, artificial intelligence and more. We have included mandatory life skills courses for professional development and signature courses covering topics of intellect in the curriculum. Thecourses have been planned after proper consultation with industry experts and the semesters have been designed to offer our students sufficient time for research which is of utmost importance and gives them the needed national and global exposure.”

UPES is a multi-disciplinary university and offers specialized under-graduate and post-graduate programs through its seven schools- School of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Design, School of Law, School of Business, School of Health Sciences, and School of Modern Media.

Yes, candidates undergo internships during the MBA curriculum of UPES Dehradun. Candidates are only required to complete one internship for MBA between the second and third semester of the curriculum.

Yes, UPES Dehradun MBA admissions are open for the academic year 2026. Candidates who have already appeared in national or state level entrance exam can apply by going to the website of the institute.

No, candidates cannot get direct admissions in the UPES Dehradun MBA courses. Admissions to all BBA courses are based on entrance exam scores either obtained in UPESMET or national/state level MBA exams.

Unlike other courses, there is no mention of a possibility to secure direct admission into the MB
